Yeah. The club traded Shane Hamilton and David Cameron to the Brisbane Bears for the #1 pick.
Fair to say the club didn't get it very right. Hooper was a dinosaur. Played 24 games or something.

Flanigan at least ran, could kick a bomb, and had a decent workrate. The club axed him at 29.
Bourke was a top ruckman, but always injured.
Thank heavens for John Barnes.
It would've been fun to see Allen Jakovich with GAS 1991-1994! Pick 6 in the 1990 draft. 100 AFL goals after his first 21 games.

My sister hasn't been to Kardinia Park much and is keen to book tickets in the Carlton Draught Lounge in the Selwood Stand for $180 a pop for our Dad's birthday. Is it worth it?

I'm happy with general admin and a sausage roll, any cheaper alternatives for a 'premium experience' I can counter with? We have a few little ones, so even just a good family pub before the game.

Dad's a Bombers fan so I'm more inclined to sit up the Players Stand so he is around his own kind.

I read this and thought it might be of interest. Have the AFL investigated using this sort of technology? - from 2023:

New Concussion Headset Shows When it’s Safe to Return to Play

A new digital headset designed to measure alterations in brain function could change decisions about how quickly an athlete is ready to return to play after a concussion. In an evaluation of the device, UC San Francisco researchers found it revealed brain changes even in athletes whose concussion symptoms had gone away, suggesting they could be playing too soon...

...The researchers observed how the device performed on 101 young adults playing Australian Rules Football, who had experienced 44 concussions.

Results appeared August 11, 2023, in JAMA Network Open

Sounds like a really positive development in the objective analysis of concussion symptoms.

And yet you can already see the AFL turning it all into a circus to drive clicks and interest in the game...

'Tune in to afl.com.au at 7.00 p.m. Tuesday night to watch in real time as Nick Daicos goes up against "the headset" to decide whether he will be available to play in Saturday's blockbuster against the Blues.'

The pre-test show will be electric

Re-watched the '09 game vs Hawthorn.
Had forgotten how phenomenal Selwood was. 25 touches in the 2nd half.

But damn you gotta love Rooke. A man with so much influence with just 9 touches.
A wrecking ball in the contest.

Ugh those years we had so many tough bastards. Selwood, Chapman, Rooke, Ling, Hunt, Scarlett, Corey, Bartel... There were so many games in those days where you just knew there was zero chance of losing. We're all so lucky for having experienced it. It was like every game of footy was an episode of Superman where the good guys always win.

Mods: does anyone know what happened to Mr Meow? They've been suspended for weeks now... Are they done for good?

Miss those days..

Dunno about the suspension but if he had points built up could be 3 weeks

Ray use to be the leader of the past players too, but he was pissed and killed his partner and severely injured the other driver too, he deserved to get what he got.
He is also accepting of the fact that he is totally at fault, and knows he deserves it - which is also important.
Nothing worse than killing somebody, and blaming something/something else.

I hope he uses this time to think on his actions and choices, and comes out a better person for it.

Technical issue, one tab of BF is using 1.4 GB of memory. Anyone face similar issues or know what might be causing this?

Edit: I think Adblock creates issues with BF's javascript, the bidding for which advertisement is shown (an automatic process usually) is failing to load due to being blocked by the client creating an excessive resource request.

It's worth mentioning that Shannon Neale, as a TWENTY-THREE YEAR OLD, and sharing the forward line with the COLEMAN MEDALIST, is THIRTEENTH in the competition for most goals this season.

Let that sink in.

The kid has kicked more goals than Walker, Fritsch, Curnow, Hipwood, Bolton and many others.

This kid is the real deal.

Neale before your God.

Hipwood is hardly a gun. Despite the early promise, I think a lot of people have woken up to how ordinary he is.
I wouldn't compare Neale with him if I wanted to prove a positive point. :)
