Nice, I'd only noticed it in the quoting post. It looks like it also affects it in the quoted post, which I hadn't noticed (probably because I don't re-read threads, I only jump to unread posts). Grim's was definitely single about five minutes ago before I made my post.
Might explain why I've seen some tripled embedded tweets as well.

You know how we can take on international rookies differently from other ones ... if an Australian wanted to play for the Lions but had never played Aussie Rules before (but obviously enormous potential and present skill enough to sign now) ... would they have to go via the standard draft or can they be taken under different circustances?

I see double tweet posts consistently - thought it was bc on an iPad. Sometimes I lose formatting on a thread too.
ie the neat boxes disappear and text is just random in display. V diff to read

Wonder if this trebles it?

I've definitely seen trebles before. Seems intermittent then.

Can be listed directly. AFL clubs can directly list rookies who have been listed with any AFL club in Australia in the last three years. Collingwood just picked up a basketballer this way (http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2012/09/21/362284_sport-news.html), and it's the same way Orreal (Sydney) and Keeffe (Collingwood) were in the past.

Shows how much attention I pay. I thought it was George Costanza!

I don't think Rob would be all that happy with this comparison.

Not that this applies to us but for others it might; If the shortening of the rookie list forced players into being delisted, would their contracts (which would still be payed out), be counted towards the salary cap?

Rookie contracts are almost invariably one year contracts. If the player is on a two year contract with one year to go, like McKeever was rumoured to be, they would have to be paid out.

What do you get out of 'sponsoring' a player?
Link
Package Details

  • Welcome letter from your sponsored player
  • Two tickets to the Queensland Player Sponsor function including cocktail food, beverages and a guest speaker
  • Option of a signed guernsey or a signed and framed photograph of your sponsored player
  • Recognition in the Season Review magazine and on the Club website

Cost ranges from $380 to $830, depending on how many games played.

The Sponsor function is quite an experience; mingling with the players for a couple of hours (chatting predominantly with your sponsored player). He then gives you a tour of the guts of the gabba and presents you with your guernsey/photo.

Up until next year they've also included a pre-game warm up viewing, but that's been cut.

Quiz question:

15. Who will be the first player suspended?

From memory Raines was the first player suspended in round 5 against Geelong. Is this correct?

Yes that is grim.

Rather than every club training at high altitude every pre-season, wouldn't it be easier just to lower the grounds below sea level, to get the same effect?

Take it to the Water Polo forum.

Next expansion team: Amsterdam!

Team name: Dutch Courage, although the season would be played through their summer, so they could be the Dutch Ovens...
