Why did GWS pass on the first 6 rounds in the rookie draft and take a player in rounds 7 and 8 ?
Probably felt guilty for a while and then greed kicked in.

Same reason we took Bourke late - they were academy kids.

NSW, QLD zone and academy selections, even though they are taken before the rookie draft commences are listed as being taken with last rounds that the club participates. For eg, you would note Jordon Bourke was taken pre commencement of the regular rookie draft but is listed as being taken with pick 63.
Only Brisbane, Suns, GWS and Sydney have access to zone and academy selections in the National and rookie draft.

Edit; Only Academy players are eligible to be taken in the National draft under the same drafting system that applies to F/S selections.

I thought my response was far more considered :p

I have a Samsung phone and an iPad and the lions app doesn't work on either the last week or so, anyone else having this problem?

If you mean showing old stories then yes having the same problem on my Android.

Someone tweeted the lions about it not long after it started & was told they knew about it & the techs were looking into it.

That was a fair while ago now...

I've seen tweets pop up from other clubs too, so I reckon the AFL site update has gone done and broke 'em.

What time is the AGM tomorrow and what entrance do we go through? (I lost my letter).

6pm start and gate 10. I'm still hoping to pull off a miracle and get out of work to make it. Time will tell.

You may have noticed that stories from the Lions site don't automatically embed in posts any more, and that posting this way just creates a kind of 'port hole' to the AFL site. This has been in effect since the AFL launched their new site, and it means that we have to link the story and quote it like we do with any other article now.
Sorry Haso but could you please point me in the direction of the instructions for linking a story/article. Ta

Sure WLF, I might just lay it out here. It might benefit some other people as well.

If it's any site other than Lions.com.au, just pasting the link straight in is fine, like this:

http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport...n-the-big-league/story-e6frepf6-1226534774359

But if you want to create a link with your text (which you have to do with the Lions site now or that box to the AFL site pops up instead) you can write something like this:

Courier Mail article

then highlight that text and click the 'link' button up here:

KtXgb.png

When this box appears:

Yf9zl.png

Enter the link that you want the text to link to in it. The text should then turn blue and link to the story when clicked:

Courier Mail article

You can do the same for linking to individual posts here in BigFooty as well. Find the link by clicking on the post number in the bottom right of the post:

0bZmP.png

And copy/pasting the link that pops up:

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threa...read-latest-posts.386599/page-7#post-26649093

Or linking it to some text as I demonstrated above:

WhiteLionFeva's post

Maybe more a question for the numpty thread ( and possibly already answered somewhere like that) But while you're on a roll, Haso, how's about putting quoted text into a 'quote box' ( as opposed to quoting someone's post where it's done for you?

It's another function of one of those buttons up the top of the text box:

It will place two sets of brackets with 'quote' and '/quote' in them. Just put the bit of text that you want to have appear in the quote box in between the two sets of brackets, like this:

and it will end up looking like this:

quotedy quote quote

Does anyone know how or if I can link an audio file to BigFooty??

Yeah, it is a MP3 at the moment on my hard drive.
You would need to upload to a file hosting site somewhere and like to it as a URL, eg. www.whateverfilehostyouwanttochoose.com/something/youaudiofile.mp3. It should then show up as a hyperlink and when clikced play in the user's default media player.

Mediafire is probably the most popular file hosting site for stuff like that, but not being a user of them there may/may not be drawbacks to it - there are a heap of others just like it. Obviously if it's copyrighted material, then you upload it to somewhere like that at your own risk.

Thanks TFB. I'll see if I can upload a little gem tonight :)
