Na it really is incredible. I liked the fact that it didn't rely on action, fantasy etc. it was just a brilliant character study about a man losing his grasp on the control he had in his life and society in an ever changing world.
I didn't see the brilliant character study at all. Each season was basically similar with his drinking out of control/sleeping with whatever floozy was flavour of the month etc. Rinse and repeat. There was obviously a bit more to it than that but not much more imo. I don't even think Don was the best character haha.

It is weird because that's a concept that would quite appeal to me normally but I just didn't think they did enough with it.

Does anyone on here work in the Sydney CBD? SM , pantskyle ?

We've just moved offices and we're now right outside Wynyard. Absolutely loving life.

I'm outside of the city. SM might.

Certainly not against it.

I used to live in Wolli Creek which is quite close to the city, now I'm a little further out.

See this is where I'm at with Sopranos at the moment. Feels like there's a victim of the week/fortnight, and a dickhead mobster of the month, and it rinses and repeats.

Haha yes indeed, I'm just in Martin Place at the moment but will generally be working out of Barangaroo.

Will have to do lunch sometime.

EDIT: Or yeah, footy.

I come from near the Blue Mountains haha. Hopefully you're no further than that! :D

Yeah cool, we can try and book it in with plenty of notice :thumbsu:

Not even close, I'm near Liverpool.

Man, move closer. What a trek.

What's the commute like from there? I only have a 45 min trip on the express train so don't mind it too much! It's cut my commute to about 70-80 mins each way (down from about 120 haha).

I get an express train to and from which is good, only four stops, takes around 20 mins to Wolli.

Don't reach young blood. I can drink. it's the recovery which is the issue.
I'm a few years younger than you, but this has been a problem for me as well over the last 12-18 months.

A proper night out on a Saturday night and I'll still be feeling the lingering effects on ****ing Wednesday.

I was death last Sunday because blokes kept buying me drinks during and after our win. Got home about 5am, and then it was about 35 degrees on Sunday. Nothing worse than a hangover in scorching heat.

Each to their own but it definitely deserves the plaudits it received for me.

Finally someone else knows the pain. I'm 26 and my hangovers can last till Wednesday, sometimes even Thursday when I give it a decent nudge. I don't know if it's normal though lol. It really wouldn't surprise me if it was minor alcohol poisoning or a symptom of withdrawal.

It just ruins the entire week.

I'm not sure if it's because my bodies become accustomed to drinking so then I naturally drink more which results in a worse hangover or just simply because of age. I've just turned 25 and I'm not sure if I drink the same amount now on a big night compared to what I used to. I can have a decent night, but not massive, and be ok the next day if I pack it in pretty early, but the big nights where I'll go out and get home in the morning generally tend to see me still feeling terrible into the second half of the week.

I'm friends with a nurse and she reckons a hangover is 100% dehydration because alcohol is a diuretic. She said if you drink as much water as you piss then you'll wake up feeling fine albeit a little tired from a lack of sleep. Who would want to strategically drink water while drinking beers though.

Haha my mum's a nurse, one of my best mates fiance works in a hospitals emergency department and one of my other best mates mum is one of the leading Drug and Alcohol nurses in Victoria so I've heard that and plenty more on a number of occasions. Mind you, it doesn't stop my mates fiance from having a decent crack every now and then.

You're right though, who wants to do that? I will every now and then if I'm drinking throughout the day and into the night, particularly if it's hot, but aside from a bottle of water picked up from the kebab shop or Maccas I won't if it's just a night out, even if I know it will make me feel better.

i used to regularly partake in sunday sessions at the little creatures beer hall in brunswick st.

Was great in my early 20s when i could back up for work but i had to stop doing them a few years back as it ruined my week.

hangover cure for me is a pint of water, a powerade and a berocca before bed. cures all evils. problem is that I'm lazy and often forget to have anything more than a glass of water. key is preparation, especially on footy trips.
