Weren’t those foldable phones breaking straight away?

Anyways, Samsung and Apple have competing stores in the shopping centre near where I live...one is always full, whilst the other always empty.
McDonalds is always full too. Doesnt mean they make great food.

How highly do people rate location as important in considering a job offer? Have been offered a role but it's a fair way out of the CBD (Rhodes for those in Sydney), and I feel like it's a bit silly to fuss about location, but then I do think about how it is kind of important. Can't pop out at lunch to buy things or catch up with people for lunch etc.

It's very important. How long will it take you to get to and from work? Longer or shorter than current commute?

I personally myself would not work out of the CBD - unless it was very close to home - or something that involved changing trains etc.

We're looking at new places to move, one of which when the new metro connection comes in would probably take 30 minutes? Shorter than current commute. But where we currently are it's probably roughly the same, but with more flexible start/finish so I may end up being able to leave home/be home at better times than current.

Yeah it's tough to think over and consider from that perspective rather than specifically the role itself.

Yeah massive consideration. Took me almost an hour to drive to my last job and made me hate the commute but it only takes me ten mins down the freeway now and I’m at work now.

All depends on if it is closer to home than the CBD is. I work in South Yarra / Richmond which is my side of the city so it just makes sense. I'd never consider a job outside of the CBD that isn't closer to home than the city is. There's food/coffee/shops still in the area I'm in so I haven't noticed the move at all. Where I previously was in a business park in Burnley (still my side of the city) had no shops and just a couple of food options and that was a bit weird but was still only a 5 min drive from places

It's probably just as far away. Or, closer but with the train changes it takes as long.

Toy Story 4 was good, but would rate it the worst of them all.

Goes 1,3,2 then 4 for me, but still well worth a watch.

Interesting, haven't seen the 4th but probably have the 2nd worst.

3, 1, 2 for me.

It’s worth it especially if they allow flexible working and WFH

Yeah think they're a lot better with flexible working, not positive on how flexible WFH is, but they sound much better in terms of start/finish time.

Might be worth asking about in advance. Places out of the cbd are more likely to be okay with it to try and attract talent out to them. My current department head is a massive fan of it and thinks productivity is better if we do it every few weeks. It’s give and take though, for instance I’ve answered a few questions on my phone watching the origin tonight

I believe I mentioned this to you last time, but incase I didn’t here goes.

The best time to negotiate your terms is on the way in. Whatever you’re seeking, in terms of salary and flexibility etc, put it out there upfront. It sets expectations and makes it easier for you, and them.

Squeeze every last cent you can. Some of the things I’ve asked for over the years have been quite outlandish but every now and then, they’re just silly enough to say yes. If you don’t ask, you won’t know.

On a separate note, am only now getting up to speed on this Folau situation. Staggering the money he’s already raised in that go fund me campaign.

A multi millionaire asking for donations for personal usage, amazing.

Donate to Israel Folau? **** no. He can’t even be honest in his little writeup to get people sympathising with him. He claims he was sacked by rugby Australia for passages from the bible he posted on social media and not his “gays go to hell” rant. On the very first screen I saw, the highest donation I saw was $200. I am sure there are plenty (of the current $740+k) a lot higher than that. Why would anyone donate that sort of money to a millionaire? He’s asking for $3M and I am sure if he hits that he probably won’t take the page down. He said just last year that he’d walk away from rugby for his beliefs, I guess he’d rather go to court and fight his sacking using money donated to him from people he is being dishonest to. Naturally.

The only times I have ever donated on Go Fund Me pages was when the husband of a family friend of ours was struck by lightning in Queensland and died about 3 years ago, that was to cover funeral expenses and other expenses (they have 3 children). And watching a news story a couple months ago about a dog that was hit by a car and was in a bad way (we get regular updates for the dogs progress). Those were two situations that hit me hard.
