I heard union shop stewards were quitting those roles and going back to their old tradie jobs because Wonthaggi was so lucrative. Like you said, it was about 'the right unions' getting in on the deal in return for Labor factional support.

Short term big demand for housing driving prices up wasnt great for locals either. Likewise when it was all finished up and all the tradies left town.

Wasn't construction delayed for a while because the site was flooded? Supreme irony. I'm sure there was a clause in the contracts so they all got paid.

Yeah until 09. Was supppsed to start a year earlier. There apparently were some cranes already down there which had to be paid for while sitting around doing SFA until construction could start.

Watched that Andor ep SM , it's definitely me done.

I think it's just a mixture of things. It's slow, there's no characters I actually want to root for etc.

It just really doesn't feel like SW for me.

Episode 6 you mean? Or Episode 5?

I guess some shows aren't for everyone but I'm amazed that you feel like there's no characters to root for and that that episode in particular was slow haha but fair enough.

Yeah that one was ep 6 wasn't it?

I'll try it again later but absolutely give me Mando or Obi Wan over this.

Those shows have such terrible pacing/plotting issues and rely on nostalgia pr0n to be a success, surely a more sophisticated show is more interesting? Plus if you're over SW because of binging TCW, something that doesn't feel as 'Star Wars' as those should be a nice palate cleanser? I'm just surprised even Episode 6 was considered 'slow' when it's almost non-stop action so maybe it isn't the show for you.

Mando is ok but Obi Wan was absolutely awful. It's one the greatest disappointments ever. I was so looking forward to seeing McGregor back as Obi Wan and the show was just absolute wank from start to finish. Such a shame.

Obi-Wan was ok, but think it definitely would have been better as a movie or a longer series, it just feels like it's somewhere in between and the pacing/budget is all off.

Look that's probably true but it just holds more interest for me.

Watching Vader > anything else SW. Especially when the Vader was raw and flexing his power.

There's no doubting Obi Wan wasn't the most polished series and had flaws. But I'd still rather watch a flawed Obi Wan than this one.

Truthfully my palate cleanser is something entirely unrelated to SW haha. Doing the same with Marvel to be fair.

Yeah I guess I just mean you said this doesn't feel like SW. :P

Yeah Marvel seems in a bit of a slump, none of their last few shows have interested me.

Haha true, I'm going through Peaky Blinders at the moment though. That's about as far from SW as it gets haha.

I think that was always going to happen. The did amazingly well but once you've lost Iron Man/Capt America etc I think they were always going to struggle to keep people interested.

The arc right up to End Game was just incredible, I don't know we'll see that again.

She-Hulk looks absolutely awful and every review I've seen has confirmed that. Marvel has fallen off massively which kinda sucks.

I'm trying to think of a Marvel show I actually really enjoyed.. the Hawkeye one was pretty fun, and Moon Knight was a cool concept, but none of them really grabbed me unless I'm forgetting something obvious.

Oh, WandaVision was pretty fun.

Hawkeye was a solid show without being spectacular. Wandavision was good.

Moonknight started well but just got progressively more strange.

Captain and the Winter Soldier or whatever it was called was hot garbage IMO. Wandavision was ok, still yet to see Hawkeye but heard it was ok. Moon Knight I actually watched all the way until the last 1-2 episodes then actually forgot I was watching it. Have never gone back to finish it so I think that just about sums up how invested I was in that show.

The quality was always gonna eventually slide though unfortunately.

Loki was ok but another one that got weird at points. Had a good end though.

Weirdly SW seems to be going the other way. They gave Filoni all his shows where he crams all his characters in and those shows are a bit eh, but then Andor comes along in a completely different style and quality.

Andor is excellent IMO, the last few episodes have had me gripped from start to finish. Very refreshing take after a number of lacklustre shows from Disney Star Wars recently.

On the Marvel front, I would say Loki was very very good and its importance will be enhanced over the coming years when the Multiversal war kicks off in the films. Falcon and Winter Soldier, Moonknight were decent enough. Ms Marvel a surprise packet for many, I quite enjoyed that. Hawkeye good.

She Hulk started well, a few meh episodes in the middle have probably hurt its reputation, and it somewhat recovered well in the finale. They're very short episodes and it would breeze by in a binge watching scenario, which is good or bad thing depending on your tastes. Wakanda Forever looks next level, and hanging for that to arrive.

I liked the Kenobi series, but overall struggle to get into most of the SW series or Marvel. I’m enjoying the rings of power after a slow start, the last couple of eps were really good. Season 2 coming in 2024, I believe filming started recently in the UK.

I finished Rings Of Power yesterday, really enjoyed the last few episodes. Won't spoil anything about the finale. And yes please for season 2.
