so the bought ticks era has begun on twitter. About 95% are impersonations. Some are funny, most are scams

Who could have seen this coming?

Entirely predictable. Such a stupid idea.
It's Musk.. the guy has some great ideas mixed with insane ones. This is one of the latter. Maybe it depends what drugs he is on at the time.

What great ideas has he had? Didn't he not even come up with the concept for Tesla?

I wonder how much money twitter will make from it.

Should that be the point? Facebook could charge people 5c a message in chat and some people would pay it and they'd 'make money' from it, but it bastardizes the platform.

SpaceX, Starlink, OpenAI. I don't like the guy but he's kind of an erratic Steve Jobs.

Eh I dunno I've heard a lot of his accomplishments were achieved on the shoulders of others, but who knows.

LMAO. Facebook sell your data without your consent around the world instead to the likes of Cambridge Analytica and perform psychological experiments on their users.

I think you misread my post. I'm not saying FB don't turn a profit, I'm pointing out that justifying bastardizing the platform in the name of 'making money' is a poor excuse.

Do you think it's right that you can pay money on BF to ban a user permanently?

Possibly. My point was that Facebook do much much worse things to generate revenue.

Re: BF - That did surprise me. Not really but I don't feel particularly strongly either way. I'm sure it would be a source of pride for whoever got banned.

I guess my point is that monetizing ingrained elements of an app seems a bit counter-productive because it's far more intrusive - even if the harm may be less. And justifying it because they'll make money out of it doesn't seem right.

Hey I get your point and agree to a large extent. I just laughed at the Facebook comparison because those guys are parasites.
