I'd say a lot of the animated films are better than live action films. Studio Ghibli make fantastic films as do Pixar and Dreamworks have improved too.
Great call on Studio Ghibli. Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke and Grave of the Fireflies are brilliant films and would rank in my all-time favourites. Pixar have no doubt made some great films but most of them just don't have the charm that Ghibli films have sans Toy Story and Finding Nemo.

Shrek is another one as well (the first one).

Really bridged the gap between adult humour and kids humour at times (Eddie Murphy as Donkey was gold).
When I have kids I'm sure I'll realise this. Animated movies are at their best if adults and kids can get enjoyment out of them.

Sorry for the change of tone here. But was made aware this evening of this story out of India and have only just summoned the courage to read it.

There are times when I have no words to describe the human race. This is one of them.

Speechless.

FFS, these are the times when I'm glad there's death penalty

The Simpsons (in its prime) was similar. When I first watched them as a kid in primary and then high school, I just used to laugh along.

But when you watch them again as an adult, you pick up on so many cracking one liners and various bits and pieces in th dialogue. It was, in its heyday, absolutely brilliant writing.

With cases like this, sometimes death isn't 'severe' enough. Truly astounding the atrocities that we humans commit against each other.

1000 pages ehh. Gee we talk a lot of shit!

Ohhhh and embarrassing story from yesterday. Heavily crashed a golf cart that's going to cost me about $700 to replace. So me haha.

My baby has come along well

Haha, were you drunk?
I wish. Was coming around the corner towards a new tee and the turning circle wasn't as good as I expected. Slammed the tyre into the wall which bent the steering arm haha. Not my finest moment. Gave the old man a couple of bruised ribs as well :D

So this has probably been mentioned on here before but who here considers themselves a musician? I was right into playing music as a kid and into my early 20's but then didn't do much for 7-8 years and have now just joined a band and realized again how much fun it is. I started out as a bass player and then went to guitar but back to bass in this current band. Perhaps we could form a Big Footy Association Football band ;)
I consider myself a very average musician. I try and write my own stuff. I have very rough demos on Soundcloud just to show people. I used to be in a band years ago til we had a falling out haha but I miss performing on stage.

I liked it but I felt like it was going to build to a massive crescendo!

There's still heaps I haven't seen. I love Porco Rosso. That's a fantastic one. Grave of the Fireflies is possibly the saddest film I've ever seen. Conveyed so much emotion and it's a cartoon!

Fantastic Mr Fox is a favourite of mine too and the LEGO movie was also superb.

I'd say Pixar is the number one animation company at the moment. Haven't seen a bad film although I'm not a massive fan of Cars. The Disney films were made so long ago but many still hold up like Lion King and Aladdin. Hard to pick a winner to be fair.

Can't beat Toy Story, absolutely love them.

Always loved Over The Hedge too.

Disney still makes animated movies these days in fairness.

Totoro and Ponyo are the only ones I've seen from them, but they were great.

Doing 360's in those things is the best haha

I know but I was just comparing the two. I think it's hard to determine an outright best Studio. Princess and the Frog was really good aswell and thats a recent Disney film.

It's what makes it so good, that it doesn't.

Yup I'm a musician, been right into guitar since around age 10, and now that I've moved back to Victoria I've rediscovered it all in a big way.

I'm just curious, how did you join a band? I play with my cousin every week and we write songs together, but he's not much into performing. I'd love to just join something ready made.

That was the worst bit. For all the stupid shit I've done in golf carts, it was something ordinary that's going to cost me money ffs haha.

Went to IKEA the other day to look for stuff for the apartment.

It is impossible to be angry when you're in there. What a place.

Unless you're looking for an exit.
