Moo, prove this man wrong.

When I heard they had found a cure for dyslexia it was like music to my arse.

Get me 10 likes and save a kitten.

Always find discussions like this interesting. Especially with your comment above.

To me, this is where I challenged my own hypocrisy. And realised that farmed animals such as cows, pigs, chickens etc demonstrate the same intelligence and sentience that you describe above.

Just because they may not necessarily be an endangered species, doesn't mean they are deserving of death and suffering for other's usage.
Very true. I do eat meat so I guess I cant talk really.

Waiting for Glen to post the Apu picking the hotdog off the ground video.

Out of interest glenferry23 my girlfriend has chickens on her property and eats their eggs - would you be opposed to something like that where the chickens aren't living in the same conditions as those bought in supermarkets?

out of interest what does she feed them?

Alright, I just saw it, and it did pique my curiosity (And because I am extremely late). Just quickly sidestepping the meat issue...

chef , forgive me if you answered this, but what would you say would be your trademark dish? And well, trademark dessert if you had one?

Just curious, that's all.

You should only eat something that you would be prepared to kill yourself.

That's a good rule to have.

I hear this mentioned quite often, but I must confess I'm no expert on this one. Supposedly, chickens need to eat their own shells afterwards (something to do with some nutrients in the shells that need to be redigested).

Again, I'm not entirely sure but consuming their eggs prevents them from having that.

If an animal died of natural causes or in an accident is it fine to eat then glenferry23

And do you have pets?

Yes mate. We have a few adopted bunnies that were saved from slaughter and animal testing. They're such harmless creatures, very fun to have around the house. My son loves them.

Was at first devastating to see their mistrust and fear of humans after what we've done to them. But over time, they have become more and more fond of us.

The answer to your first question is a bit more difficult. Irrespective of their cause of death, there's no absolute need to consume it's flesh given we've now evolved to a level where we have choices.

Hundreds of years ago, in the wild, of course it's different. It's a matter of survival. But in the developed first world we live in, it's not.

I find the majority of people would be unwilling to admit this. But it's a confronting question I had for myself many years ago that I did my best to avoid and ignore.

But it gets to a point where I simply concluded if I'm too gutless to do it myself, then it's a bit cowardly that I pay the middle man to do it for me. That's what led me to Earthlings....

It's why I only eat chicken and fish, because I know (and have) killed both of those species. I couldn't kill a cow, sheep and most of all a pig though - so I took the decision to stop eating that meat

It sounds odd coming from a vegan, but I do actually respect this mentality. Similar with those who hunt for food (rather than killing for fun etc).

Getting outraged at things like Cecil the Lion being killed whilst being a meat eater etc is mired in hypocrisy.
