I love that hustle and bustle.
North or Dogs games are fun to read.
but um there's more people to bump stupid things you say. :p
Honestly if there was no main board the off-season would be a bit boring.
I guess it depends how passionate you are about the AFL. I know a few of you guys on here are AFL>>EPL whereas im EPL or specifically Liverpool>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Anything or anyone. :D

Helps when you've been up for a decade. Don't cop shit from lots of clubs.
Tiges posters must be like human pinatas!
But yes, love the diversity of topics.

Weather looks to be shit this weekend so much so that I won't even be going to watch the VFL so am downloading heaps of WWII films. Will watch Schindler's List for the first time. Needing help compiling some to download outside of the most common few that everyone knows of.

Check out the following.

Schindler's List - for obvious reasons. It's a masterpiece and tells and incredibly important story.

Saving Private Ryan - just a terrific film. The opening half an hour I think is the most realistic portrayal of war on film. Just absolute chaos and dumb luck if you get off that beach alive. Haunting stuff.

Zwartboek (Black Book) - a Dutch film about a young Jewish girl who becomes a spy for the Dutch Resistance. Terrific film and Carice van Houten (Red Witch from GoT) plays the main character. Subtitles obviously so if you dont like that then dont bother with it.

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas - the book is better but the movie stands up well enough. Absolutely tragic film. Just horrible. It's about two small boys who become friends. One the son of the Nazi commander in charge of the death camp, the other boy, a jewish boy inside the death camp.

Empire of the Sun - a young Christian Bale plays a kid separated from his parents in the early part of the war and his stuggles to survive throughout it. Spielberg again, terrific film which deals more with the Japanese side rather than the Germans.

The Pianist - Polanski and Adrien Brody killing it. Just a terrific film about a Jewish concert pianist and his epic struggle to simply survive. The depictions of the Polish Ghetto's are heart wrenching. And one particular scene in that movie which I wont name is just incredible. If you havent seen it, watch it and then let me know if you pick out the one scene im talking about.

Letters from Iwo Jima - - A terrific look at the other side of the war as it details the Japanese and their conflict with the allies on Iwo Jima in the last days of the war. Directed by Clint Eastwood. It's the second of two films. The first telling the same story but from the side of the Allies in Flags of our Fathers. Worth watching both but Iwo Jima is my favourite of the two. Subtitles so as I've said if you hate them, dont watch.

Der Untergang (Downfall) - tells the story of Hitler's last days of his life in his bunker underneath Berlin. No idea how Bruno Ganz didnt sweep awards everywhere for his portrayal of Hitler that was so convincing that at times you just think it's a doco and not an actor playing him. Remarkable performance. Subtitles again.

The Great Escape - tells the story of a bunch of allies coming together to escape a POW camp. More fun and adventurous than some of the bleaker takes on the war I've listed above but still a fantastic film.

Fury - tank chaos.

The Inglorious Basterds - Tarantino's one for me. It's a must see just for Christoph Waltz' performance which won him a deserved oscar.

Band of Brothers - a 10 part TV mini series rather than a movie but pretty much the best television of all time. All time.

Valkyrie - Tom Cruise is actually really good in this movie that surrounds the failed plot to assassinate Hitler by his own German Army officers.

Defiance - A film about the Bielski partisans, a group led by Polish Jewish brother who saved and recruited Jews in Belarus during the second world war. Stars Daniel Craig and Liev Schrieber.

Grave of the Fireflies - an animated movie out of Studio Ghibli. Tells the story of a young boy and his toddler sister forced to go it alone in the Japanese wilderness whilst American bombs reign overhead. Critic Roger Ebert said it's quite simply one of the greatest war movies ever made. A must see for me.

Das Boot - probably the most intense movie ever. If you're claustrophobic, dont watch this film about German U-Boats during the war.

Enemy at the Gates - Not a masterpiece like some above but a decent WWII film about dueling snipers.

The Way Back - a story about a Polish POW who escapes a Russian Gulag in WWII and walks over 4,000 miles to freedom.

The Pacific - the second installment of the Band Of Brothers. Different characters but another 10 part mini series that this time tackles the war in the Pacific rather than Band of Brothers dealing with continental Europe. Not as good as Band of Brother for me but still bloody sensational.

U-571 - a less serious, more action kinda movie. Some fun to take a break from some of the tough but amazing films I've listed above. Stars Matthew McConaughey.

The Imitation Game - more a story of Alan Turing than the war but his story is a tragic one and of course important in the war as he struggles to solve the Enigma Code.

The Book Thief - about a young girl living with adoptive parents in Germany all the while harbouring a jewish refugee they are hiding.

Plenty more classics like...

The Bridge on the River Kwai
The Longest Day
Tora! Tora! Tora!
The Thin Red Line
Casablanca
The Guns of Navarone
Kelly's Heroes
Where Eagles Dare
Stalingrad
The Dirty Dozen
The Big Red One
Come and See

Ahhh WWII movies. You gotta love them.

Enjoy.

How does season 2 match up to the first?

I loved S1 but haven't really been interested in seeing S2 after Mendelsohn's character was killed off.
I didn't think they would continue after Danny died because I thought that would've been a great ending, but they do and they don't butcher it at all.

I highly recommend watching it. It just gets super intense. Danny still features in it a fair bit after he dies. I won't go into how but it's really clever how they keep him in it.

You missed Life is Beautiful jod23

My fav WW2 film. Just absolutely beautiful, particularly in the Italian language.
Not really a beautiful film when you look deeper into it.

Watched Suicide Squad.

Well..... What a disaster.

There was no direction, the plot was average, the enemy was hilarious, like seriously wtf was with that?

The heroes were underwhelming, only one I liked was Harley Quinn, the Joker was crap because he hardly played a role and was all over the joint. Batman played a ridiculous role too, just stupid.

I could go on and on, it was just shit!!!!!

2/10

I think the problem with DC is they are playing catchup. They needed to build instead of just BvS, Suicide Squad and now Justice League coming shortly. They just wanna be level with Marvel right away instead of the years of work that went into building to the Avengers.

Several solo films for Thor, Captain America, Iron Man etc all culminates to them getting together. They did it really well, as movies with that many characters in it can be difficult without any backstory.

I would have liked to see one or two stand alone Batman movies with Affleck and one more stand alone Superman movie with Cavill before putting them together. In that time you could have made solo movies for perhaps Leto's Joker or of course put him in Afflecks Batman movies. Stand alone movies for Harley Quinn or several of the other Suicide Squad member and then build it all up to BvS and Suicide Squad and Justice League.

But as usual Hollywood want everything now.

Marvel do it best. Always will I'd think.

So a lot of the older ones. I dont mind those, they are classics if you will but war is told so much better today just with how much realer it looks. Rather than movies that were made in the 60s and 70s.

I listed The Big Red One but I actually havent seen it. It's known as that movie that Mark Hamill did between Star Wars' but if you do a little research it's actually considered one of the greatest WWII movies of all time so it's on my list to see. The rest of those listed I have seen, or at least 95% of them.

Also, surprised you have seen Zwartboek, everytime I mention that movie to someone, they say they havent seen it. It's really good though.

Anyone watched Scream season 1 or 2?

I'm currently nearing the end of season two and it's an awful show really. I watch because it's fun sorta, decent eye candy and I loved the original Scream movies as I grew up with them.

But this show is so poorly written.

Some things that I find hilarious about the show.

Ill throw them in spoiler tags just in case people havent seen the show.

I just watched Episode 10 so dont anyone reply with anything from the conclusion of the season two. But in episode 10, Noah is kidnapped and buried alive yet AUdrey and Emma have a full domestic about their relationship and how Audrey brought the original killer to Lakewood.

Like seriously, stop having a domestic and find your dying friend. Not to mention, they pull into the driveway of the barn and get out and then just walk towards the barn that is 100 metres away. Mate... your friend is suffocating to death. How about you get a wriggle on.

Also Noah is supposed to be the smart kid who knows everything about killers and stuff. Yet the reason he is buried alive is because he answers texts from his new GF about where she is and for him to ditch school and come find her.

He is a smart guy, he should know far better than that. I mean the killer has already used other peoples phones to lure people in. Surely he would say. Hey man, just to be sure, call me real quick so I know you're not the killer. ****ing so dumb. This is after a few episodes ago, he goes into a dark fun house after hours to meet someone who has info on the killer.

Firstly why meet there in the dark, in a scary place at night when everything is closed. Secondly dont go meet him. He does, then half way through comes to his senses and says this is stupid, what am I doing. Correct it was stupid, yet a few episodes later you are being dumb again.

Another thing I find hilarious is that a second serial killer in the space of maybe a year is in town yet still nobody higher than the local sheriff's have turned up. Like no FBI at all. Only 12 people are dead and the killer is still on the loose. That's cool, let's just leave it to local sheriff's to handle and solve the case because sheriff's are definitely detectives. Also let's not bring in any serial killer experts to help out.

And another thing that annoys me is that all the kids are wondering around doing whatever they want. I dont have kids, but I have a niece and nephew and I love them to the moon and back. If someone was targeting them, some kind of sick serial killer. My kid wouldnt be heading off to school. Or driving to her bf's house or going to a party or going to a fair. Absolutely no ****ing way. I would be with her at all times to make sure she is safe.

Yet these kids wonder around on their own all the time. It's ridiculous. In one scene Noah says his parents have gone away for the weekend or something so his GF can come over. Yeah so your son is best friends with the girl who is being targeted by a serial killer. Yet you're gonna head off for the weekend and leave your son home alone. Hahaha **** off.

Worst writing ever. I still watch it though.

Yes, I like it.

The plot holes are stupid/funny, but aside from that it's a good 40 minute time waster.
