It took my first abused rescue cat 7 years to climb on my lap.
Misi who was also abused sits next to me but not on me. She is affectionate in other ways and very chatty.

I just let the rescues figure things out in their own time.
Yes. Zsa Zsa is very talkative at times. She is afraid when anyone comes to visit and hides in her safe wardrobe shelf. She lets me pet her and loves when I scratch her belly. She has never scratched nor bitten me. Just last year, she started jumping up on the arm of my lounge chair, always the right arm, and let's me pet her for a while. When she grows tired of it, she'll jump down and head off to the bed for a nap. When I go to bed, she goes back to her wardrobe safe place for the night. She's been a challenge, but I'm sure glad that I have her. She kept me sane during the lockdowns.

A workmate asked to see a photo of my cat, and I couldn't find one. She couldn't believe that I didn't have a photo "of one of my children".
