Amazing what confidence does. With his second goal, he would have handpassed to Varcoe instead of having a shot had he not kicked that first goal. Even though his first was from a metre out you could see the boost it gave him.

His ruckwork wasn't too bad either today.

For those who didn't watch the game...

and don't have footage of it.
:)

This is Blakes second(?) goal.

OMG! Yay!

Thanks. I missed the whole game cause I was out shopping and lost track of time.

Ohh good plays there.

Cheers mate. I saw the mark and the first goal on telly but they didn't show the second. Gazza would've been proud of hat one:thumbsu:

How does one miss a Geelong Football game because they were out shopping?

I once missed a VFL game because I was shopping, but I knew beforehand that I wouldn't be home in time to watch it.
I'd cry - and possibly break a few things - if I missed Geelong play an AFL game, especially if we won.
:o

All the old grannies dropped their knitting and were jumping around like teenyboppers. Unforgettable moment!!! Spontaneous reaction which I've not seen at KP for ages!:)

Re: I can't wait for...

i will upload it as soon as i can. But i rely on other sources for my videos.

I really wanna hear the abc's commentary on it though.

I was pottering around the house doing stuff with the radio on in the background and then all of sudden i hear the commentators going off.
I thought someone had taken mark of the century or something like that.
And finally some composure came to the commentary team they announced Mark Blake had kicked a goal.
My boy the Gazelle had finally arrived on the big stage.

What a story to tell the grandkids in 50 years time.:thumbsu:

Re: I can't wait for...

I'm not as clever as you lot, my abilities are limited to presetting dvd recorder and then burning a copy or two. But have a good collection from this year though.

man... i'm spewing!!
i decided on friday that I wasn't going to drive to geelong on the grounds that it was gonna be a boring game with crap weather against a shithouse team.
Lo and behold when I get home from work, I hear Blakey's slotted two!! If I had of known the Great Man was gonna light it up, I would have turned up even if there had of been a monsoonal downpour!!

Ahh, well... good on him, even if he did pick the wrong week to score the goal of the season.

One of the greatest moment in my life seeing my boy kicking that. It was surreal. I had a mass headache all saturday night from screaming so much after he kicked the first - and then to kick a second......Im still lost for words.

Well done Blakey - theirs no one else that deserved it more than you!

He showed Byrnes how it was done.

His confidence to kick the second was great, Mooney's shepard on the line was brilliant as well.

Good to see hey?
There's no way he would have gone for goal had he not already kicked his first. When I saw him get the ball, it looked like he was thinking to himself, "we'll, I've kicked one, which means I'm not cursed and can kick goals... so, let's have a crack!"
I hope that confidence continues to build. if it does, he will become a far more dangerous player. He's good now, but could become an elite ruckman if he develops his kicking, which has more to do with his confidence than anything else.

Good ol' Aunty podcasts a highlights package of the weekend's games.
Size is only about 15mbs.

Skip to 7:20 for our highlights, and you'll hear part of Rookey's interview (the part I missed, fortunately). The great man's moments are at 11:10.
