Fiery clash in a development squad London Derby and yet here we are discussing bloody Bielsa like he’s a god or something.

He’s the manager of a small fish in a big pond.

I wasn't aware that they had ever worked together. Have you got a quote for that?

A quick google search reveals plenty of stories where Messi names Pep as the best that he's worked with FWIW.

Bielsa was Pep's mentor FWIW.

Bielsa has never coached Messi lol. He left Argentina in 2004, Messi made his debut in 2005.

This cult of Bielsa is insane.

Oh right. My mistake Still on a couple of occasions, Leo wanted El Loco as manager of Barca.

I happen to value Messi's opinions far more than of the anti Leeds bitters on this forum 👍👍👍

Least we are a proper historical club with proper fans. No plastics or glory hunters here.

Leeds were stuck in the Championship for ages and Bielsa was the man that got them back to the top div.

Factor in that he's a unique character and it's easy for me to understand why Leeds fans unashamedly adore him.

You’re Australian and no doubt would have started supporting Leeds while they were flying high in the premier league.

You seem like a very insecure person to try and invalidate other peoples support of their football team.

This cult of Bielsa is insane.

Many international football writers like him. He gets spoken about a lot on quality podcasts like the Totally football show and the Guardian's football weekly. Some managers rate him very highly. On top of that, Bielsa's personality is interesting to say the least. Nobody ever said this guy is a guarantee for silverware or anything. Football's full of managers and players who haven't won trophies, but who've contributed a lot to the game. Not sure why some have a problem with Leeds fans being excited about him, given the amount of attention and respect Bielsa gets from others.

I'm well aware of that. I'm not trying to talk him down, I know his reputation in the world game, and I actually agree. I just don't see what any of this has to do with Messi.

I actually like you Elmer but this stuff here is so, so cringeworthy. I think you're a bit lost, this isn't reddit or twitter. We're all Australian football fans who are following football teams which are based on the other side of the world. Questioning the validity of another person's support is just so utterly pointless and it contributes absolutely nothing to the conversation. It just makes you look like a try hard.

I like him and think the league is better for him being in it. He’s a fascinating character and his teams play good football.

I don’t think anyone has a problem with Leeds fans being excited by him, it’s the fact that you all seem to get shitty that we’re not all as excited as you. How many times do we have to read “[person x] thinks he’s the best manager ever”?
It’s reached the point now where Leeds fans are making stuff up about players rating him as their best coach despite never playing under him.

Mate, get real!

Don't you realise Elmer has to prove his dick is bigger than the rest of ours?

Funnily enough there was someone on the Guardian pod last week who was similarly bemused by the adoration he gets.

Seems a bit plastic to me. Average 36k when they are going well and drops to low to mid 20k when they aren't

Actually started following Leeds in the 92/93 season, cause I needed a team to follow in England as i started playing junior soccer at Ringwood City. I was also a big video game player at the time, and one of the Computer Video Game mag editor's at the time was a lad called Julian, who kept getting grief all the time from readers and staff at the time for supporting LUFC, so I decided to follow suit.

Gary McAllister was my first boy/childhood football hero. Was absolutely crushed when he transferred to Coventry a couple of years later.

Speedo was another hero of mine, and his death is still something I find it hard to get over.

My all time favourite player is Lucas Radebe though. Absolute legend and utterly loyal to the club and city to the core.

Anyhow I apologize for and retract my comment about Plastic Fans and Glory hunters, that was uncalled for/below the belt and deserve to be roasted over it.

Everyone has their own valid reasons for supporting their club, I guess I got a tad precious and salty over some anti LUFC posts here lately, which to be fair, I probably did bring upon myself a bit (not hard feelings SM :) )

I was unlucky not to be born in the glory years of Bremner/Giles/Charlton/Hunter/Revie etc and I missed out on watching us win the last Division 1 league title. Still bitterly recall us losing the 1996 Coca Cola Cup to Villa and then the highs of Champions League Football, than the massive lows that followed, including relegation to League One and Administration.

Then 2 years ago we threw promotion away, and then there was the glory of last year, which was the first major piece of Silverwear I have seen us win in my lifetime supporting Leeds, so as RossFC says, I am rather potty about Bielsa.

If I had my time over again as a 12 year old kid, I wouldn't change a thing. We have had more downs than ups in recent times, but it's never been dull supporting Leeds #MOT #ALAW

All this because some can't respect Lampard's calibre as a manager smh
Nah I'm claiming bait on this for my Phelan > Bielsa.

Haven't you apologised previously for already acting like a total nuff?

Kinda an empty apology if you just keep doing it.

> Bielsa. Anyone could manage Leeds

Tell that to Colin W*nker. He seems to have gotten every championship club he has managed up except us. 🤐🤐🤐
