You're tarring a sport entirely because the gender, really not sure how you're not getting that.
Explain how I'm doing that when I also mention MLS and the A-League as being equally unwatchable. Cmon mate, let me help you down off your high horse. Everything its going to be ok.

You commented on a highlights video of goals as being hard to watch, you knew exactly what you were saying, don't back down now.
Yeah I did. You brought up that it was womens football. I just said it was hard to watch. It could have been an A-League video and I would have said the same thing.

You really struggle to understand the simplist of things dont you.

Would you have commented if it was MLS or A-League highlights?

I doubt it.

I brought it up? It's a video of women playing football that you said was hard to watch you plum.

Well if you know me then yes I probably would have because my stance on the A-League is well documented on these boards and I've had some interesting discussions about it in the past.

I think I'll make clear my thoughts.

It's very different to comparing to the men's game. For reasons which should be obvious but I suppose apparently aren't.
The WSL is one of the top tiers, maybe the top, of women's football worldwide which is still fairly fledgling in terms of being a professional game.
Much like AFLW here.

It's fine saying you don't watch it, or you don't like watching it.
But to be so dismissive of it does nobody any favours. Of course the standard isn't as high as the top of the men's game.
Men have played the sport considerably longer than women have, not even taking into account going professional.

Women's teams are only really in the last 10-15 years being given a reasonable fraction of the funds and facilities that the men get.

I myself don't watch as religiously as I do the men, but I follow it, watch good highlights if they pop up and sure as hell will be going to some games when the World Cup is here and supporting the Matildas.
But the difference, jod23, is that your post was clearly dismissing it. And likely without even watching the video.
That's why you have copped the backlash.

Im sure you follow the Perth Wildcats which makes your stance on the Glory / A League frankly baffling.

As a lover of the game of football I couldnt imagine not following my local team the Victory. Its a reasonable standard and I get to live it everyday, it is more important to me than LFC.

To say you only want to watch football at Premier League level is absolutely a eurosnob and you know it.

How exactly was that specific video hard to watch though? There was some genuinely cracking goals at any level in that video.

I do not believe anyone can be described as a true football/beautiful game fan if they snub/shun the local product.

I have also been to plenty of state league and lower division games over the years and had a blast.

Your attitude (no offense) is extremely appalling and irritating in my opinion.
So just because you like state league we as football fans have to as well? What kind of logic is that? Do I have to like BBL because I’m a big international test fan? Of course not.

l’m a huge NFL fan, does that mean I have to like the local league?

Why does anyone care if Jod likes women's football, or A League, or MLS?

I like them all, if jod doesnt what does it matter?

Some of the top goalkeepers in the world would struggle to save some of those goals.

I dont get anybody's argument here.

We are all individuals who like different things. I like top class football like the Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga etc. I dont like A-League, Womens football, MLS etc because the standards drop significantly.

You obviously enjoy lower league football and good for you. Other people done.

It's perfectly fine and it doesnt mean anyone is a Eurosnob or sexist. It just means that people are different.

I guess it's a case of Tomata, Tomato I suppose.

You cannot deny the recent resurgence of the NBL in this country (after many years of shitcannery) has been great for the grassroots game of basketball here in Australia.

Our local basketball/hoops league is now am internationally recognized and respected league.

I see no reason that (realistically) within 10 years, we cannot do the same here with the A League and Football.

Of course we cannot trust any of the Muppets at The FFA to do it, but as I say, many Hoops fans in Oz shunned the local product (after the halcyon years of the 90s) until the NBL finally knew how to structure and run the league right.

Regardless I am almost as potty as Melbourne City as I am Leeds United.

Probably because it's fairly obviously sexist and calling out those archaic attitudes needs to be done, much as BLM is calling out racist views. If you think he's entitled to his dismissively sexist views then that's pretty poor.

As Loons said there is zero issue with watching the video and saying "Nice goals, if more games were like that I'd watch" or even - as revolutionary as this may be - just not commenting on something he has no interest in. Going out of his way to laugh at something does no good for anyone, especially not himself.

Its only obvious to someone desperate for his daily shitfight.
Which of the several people that called him out would that be?

jod23 Do this next time so this doesn't happen again.

We are of course entitled to like different things jod23, and nobody has disputed this, at all.

But if you can't understand why you're copping heat for your statement you probably should go back and have read and keep doing so until you do.

And that's fine mate. I'm allowed to dismiss it. I'm allowed not to like the same things you do. It's why people are different.

I dont get the backlash for somebody liking different things.

I loosely follow the Wildcats and hope they win but watching the games is difficult as it's so clearly beneath the level of the NBA. Bryce Cotton can play though...

Again, this is not the issue.

Would you think the same if I said I don't like black people?

Exactly. But I get called sexist because I dont like something that someone else likes. I dont think the problem here lies with me.

It's more "I don't like Basketball because it has too many black people". Pretty much why Trump hates the NFL now.
