You cannot deny the recent resurgence of the NBL in this country (after many years of shitcannery) has been great for the grassroots game of basketball here in Australia.

Our local basketball/hoops league is now am internationally recognized and respected league.

I see no reason that (realistically) within 10 years, we cannot do the same here with the A League and Football.

Of course we cannot trust any of the Muppets at The FFA to do it, but as I say, many Hoops fans in Oz shunned the local product (after the halcyon years of the 90s) until the NBL finally knew how to structure and run the league right.

Regardless I am almost as potty as Melbourne City as I am Leeds United.

No chance. Yes the NBL has seen a slight resurgence and that's nice but the NBL and the A-League will never be close to being any kind of substitute to the NBA or the PL, La Liga, Bundesliga etc.

They are worlds apart and always will be.

I’ve worked with Sam Kerr and some of the other girls and it’s a slight on the hard work they do to get to the level they are at.

Honestly I used to think the same but working with them closely and then watching the matches properly, you see that they have a better tactical understanding at times than a lot of men’s sides.

I don't have a problem with someone saying they don't currently want to watch it because the skill level is not the same as what they want to see (i.e I'm not going to spend my afternoon watching the North West Counties League compared to PL), but it shouldn't be due to gender. When young girls see more professional pathways then they are likely to stick at football all the time and the skill level will increase. It's the same in the AFL. When it became professional all of the sudden the entire league standard increased because kids just played all of the time rather than getting jobs or going to university.

Should it be? If everyone's pretty consistently against you on this one (not just that bloody SM) maybe take a moment to pause and self-reflect and try to grow as a person.

Maybe you need some lessons in how to explain your opinion better. Such as I don't like women's football because the skill level is below a standard I enjoy, however if they were to catch up to that level then I would watch.

So you are saying I have spent over 10 years years of my life supporting Melbourne Heart/City and spending well over 2.5 k on them in terms of membership and merch etc cause it does not live up to your Eurosnob standards?

I do not believe anyone can be described as a true football/beautiful game fan if they snub/shun the local product.

I have also been to plenty of state league and lower division games over the years and had a blast.

Your attitude (no offense) is extremely appalling and irritating in my opinion.

Your post doesn't make sense as a reply to what I said. I said that I watch any enjoy watching any level of football. I support my local club whether it's under 17s, women state 2 or sunday league.

As for whether I choose to pay to watch A League, W League, under 17s that is a different matter. I don't think the standard is worth paying for. I pass no judgment on you if are happy to put your money into it yourself.
