No chance. Yes the NBL has seen a slight resurgence and that's nice but the NBL and the A-League will never be close to being any kind of substitute to the NBA or the PL, La Liga, Bundesliga etc.I guess it's a case of Tomata, Tomato I suppose.
You cannot deny the recent resurgence of the NBL in this country (after many years of shitcannery) has been great for the grassroots game of basketball here in Australia.
Our local basketball/hoops league is now am internationally recognized and respected league.
I see no reason that (realistically) within 10 years, we cannot do the same here with the A League and Football.
Of course we cannot trust any of the Muppets at The FFA to do it, but as I say, many Hoops fans in Oz shunned the local product (after the halcyon years of the 90s) until the NBL finally knew how to structure and run the league right.
Regardless I am almost as potty as Melbourne City as I am Leeds United.
They are worlds apart and always will be.
