Hopefully MOTD will reform, and be wroth watching without fast forwarding or having to watch 5 or 6 different YouTube videos.

Is clicking a new link to a video after the previous one finishes that much more difficult than fast forwarding? Each to their own I suppose.

I actually think it's part of the inherent issue with the 3pm blackout as they need to show such extended highlights as people can't watch the games otherwise. By contrast, for instance, On The Couch, or 360, or any other AFL show over here shows much less in the way of highlights.

As I said, ideally I would like a package where you don't have to fast forward or visit 5 or 6 different links.

It's quite ridiculous that people in the UK have less access to league football than in a lot of other countries.

Have to say I really enjoyed the highlights show, and don't feel I missed anything without the insight of Shearer/Murphy etc. Highlights were better without match commentary too imo.

I'm sure it will all get resolved this week, but I hope they take the opportunity to have a good look at the show and what they want it to be. For me less talk, more football.

I'm fine with Linekar fronting it (although he is as cringey as *) but I don't think it needs him and I'd like to see interviews with a player and manager from each team. But other than that, I'd do away with anyone else, just doesn't add anything to the show.

MOTD Saturday has bloated out to an hour and a half. It would be a good a good opportunity to have a review.

There's a bit of an old boy's crew with Lineker, Shearer and Wrighty. The same bantz every week. Shearer, Wrighty and Murphy are bald. Shearer scored the most goals. Show a clip of one of them missing a goal. Yawwwwn.

I'm happy to see the highlights soon after the games then catch up on analysis during the week.

Don't you live in Australia?

It's quite ridiculous that people in the UK have less access to league football than in a lot of other countries.

The argument was that if you can watch the game live in the UK you won't actually attend. But I thought there was a financial adjustment made to clubs that had their games shown live?

It's more about the supposed impact on lower leagues and away fans.

I think its more about protecting the lower leagues that tend to play at 3pm Saturday. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to have live games on Sunday either in case it hurt the gate.

And most tickets at the top level are pre-sold anyway (season tickets).

I've got dodgy TV so I can watch the 3pm Saturday kickoffs live anyway. But if I couldn't and I wanted to watch a match I could just go to the pub. So I'm not sure how effective it is anyway.

It's to encourage more people to go to the game, obviously some teams that is needed more than others. For instance Manchester and Liverpool will always have their plastics from London going to games.

If that was the case they'd have the same problems on Sundays.

Not everyone can or wants to go to a live game, if you can and want to you will whether it's on TV or not.

The replacement for Match of the Day - without title music, presenter, pundits and commentators was viewed on BBC by 2.6 million people, compared to 2.1 million who tuned in forMOTD the week before. They could be on to something.

However, the Royal National Institute of the Blind complained that showing Match Of The Day without commentary was unacceptable.

I say there might have been an increase due to intrigue as well.

How much EFL is played on Sundays?

A lot of people tuned in out of intrigue. The MOTD2 figures will be more telling and I'd expect a huge drop off.

Dunno, there was a championship game today.

Which was televised.

The point of the 3pm blackout is to not detract from the ~40 games played at 3pm. Sunderland v Norwich was also played before the PL games not concurrently.

Hopefully the review can put this stuff to bed. The public should not be subject to political statements from anyone employed in any capacity by the BBC. The license fee is already a political football and incidents such as this just exacerbate the situation.

In ANY capacity?
