Ireland and United Kingdom win the hosting of Euro 2028

Going to make sure I apply for tickets to any of the games. Knowing my luck I'll get Albania v Lithuania. (Obviously depending who qualifies).

The worst thing will be deciding qualification. England would normally qualify on their own but Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Occupied Ireland may not so who do the 2 spots go to? Will they risk having 2 hosts not qualify? Hell Casement Park in Belfast hasn't even started to be redeveloped yet.

Hoddle is an excellent pundit though, but boy oh boy did he throw Beckham under the bus several times.

That's probably harsh on Hoddle. Becks ****ed up big time. Hoddle didn't blame Becks for the defeat as his mother claimed. The media were after a headline by asking Hoddle if the sending off cost England the game. He replied "It's cost us. It's cost us dearly". I think most managers would respond like that after a silly sending off by one of their players in a big tournament.

I'm half way through the show and loving it. It's great to reminisce - that goal by Michael Owen, the treble by that great team. Seeing Becks as a kid, a young player, and now a mature man. Posh and Becks is great love story.

What Bojan said. Hoddle really didn't do much to help/nurture Beckham. He was only what, 22? at the time. If he was 32 and did that fine, but he was still young, and becoming a massive thing in football. Hoddle didn't do much at all really help the situation.

It's not the national manager's job to coddle players. He's only got them for a few days each season. The job is to get players who are performing at the top level for different clubs to gel together.

Hoddle gave a realistic assessment about the Beckham red card. It cost England dearly. Did Becks deserve the acrimony that followed? Of course not.

From the Rugby I have watched they are matey, except when the TMO isn't from their union. It's like the WC for Football, some of the refs are from UEFA, some from CONCACAF etc.

Generally it is extremely professional. It is funny when France play England in the six nations and the French TV directors don't show any of the footage that would lead to France being disadvantaged haha

I don't agree that they treat the players like school boys though. They treat them with respect and in return get respect back. When the referees aren't treated with respect they get sent off or banned. Here is one example. Red Card and 11 week ban for the England Captain at the time.

If you respect rugby referees, 99/100 they will return that respect. They are happy to have a short conversation at breaks in play to discuss different interpretations of the laws. If football brought in a similar hard line, the game would improve immeasurably both on and off the field.

Campbell’s disallowed goal I haven’t seen in a while, England were fuming at time as I recall whilst they were celebrating the referee allowed play to restart and Argentina almost scored at the other end. Was mayhem.
