A couple of days out from the A League grand final and we've got the ATO trying to wind up the Brisbane Roar...

The Tax Office has sought to formally wind up A-League soccer team the Brisbane Roar, escalating a long-running dispute with the club as the chief executive says it was close to being settled.

Brisbane Roar chief executive and chairman Kaz Patafta said the club was working to resolve the issue with the ATO, which on Wednesday applied to the Federal Court to wind up the club’s corporate entity.

Or are you asking why I've raised the A League Grand Final and Brisbane Roar together?

I would think in any other code if a team had an application to be wound up during grand final week, it would probably be linked.

I must have missed all the articles about Leicester's financial problems in the lead up to the FA Cup final.

Did you post one out of interest?

While not good news, it's not the ground breaking story you seem to think it is. Southend and other clubs in England have had winding up orders which didn't eventuate. I understand you have a hard on about any negative slant you can find for the a league but it's a bit weird.
