Finishing fourth and winning a GF or finishing first and winning the league would feel the same I'd imagine. You're the champ after all. But going into the last game and not having to beat the next best team to claim it feels a bit funny personally
Maybe, I just find it a bit odd that you could win less games for the year and somehow be considered the best because the actual best had one off day but 22 brilliant ones.

It's all about standing up when matters. Guess I've always grown up with it in AFL and then with NBA playoffs

I know this season the A-League title went down to the wire but generally speaking the competition needs the finals system to keep people's interest during the regular season.

There have been seasons in the past where the title has been pretty much decided with a third of the season to go. Imagine if there was no finals system? There would be a third of the season remaining and literally no one would be interested. At least in the Premier League when there's a runaway leader we have the fight for European places and avoiding relegation.

I get why people don't like it and I'd hate to see it in any of the big European leagues but a finals system in the A-League is a good thing in my opinion.

Yeah the a league does need it. There's just nothing worth playing for without finals without European football (ACL doesn't mean much) or relegation battles to keep things on edge

Asian Champions League as it grows in prestige should be enough of a carrot.

Scrap the FA Cup

I reckon it'd be awesome.
Dig up!! FA Cup is brilliant.

Scrap the League Cup so there's less congestion and the FA Cup would come into its own.

Hit the nail on the head. While ideally the A league would want to eliminate finals, it's just that in Australia it's not viable to maintain interest in it that way and they want to attract fans from other sports that do have finals systems in place so they need to have their own to do so.

Can't do finals in England coz the season's already long enough, in the A league there aren't 20 teams so finals make more sense to make it interesting
