So take Getafe for instance. If they're going to lower ticket prices to try and fill the stadium, why would you renew a season ticket? You'd just wait until tickets became cheaper/free (knowing that they will because the stadium won't fill out) and take them up then.

Just seems a very average deal for the lesser clubs.

What do you mean? Season tickets might decrease in price as well?

They'd have to at a bare minimum. Really they should be cheaper than a walk up ticket though. Clubs should want to entice supporters to sign up for season tickets rather than a one off ticket.

League Three anyone?

http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/36335384

A few notes about the proposal:
*The Championship, League One, and League Two will be reduced from 24 to 20 teams.
*League Three will be a 20 team league and will be the new 5th tier of English Football, below League Two and above the National League (formally the Conference)
*The result will be 100 professional league teams. No B teams.
*This is all to take place in time for the 19/20 English League Season
*It is unknown how relegation will be handled, but it should be noted that 8 NL teams will be promoted into League Three

Of course, there are questions on revenue, as most lower league clubs would rather more home games as its more beneficial to their bottom line. The biggest worry for everyone is that rather than have 100 professional clubs, we will be seeing those pesky B teams rear their ugly heads, and talk of the Premier League II.

One other thing to consider is the other direction, the National League would be a lot weaker if they lose their pro clubs, and it has been known the costs of being in Tier 5 are not exactly on the cheap side. Under this, they will be Tier 6, with financially weaker clubs, travelling all over England, and with any aspiring clubs to be further out of their goals to the top.

There are a lot of questions and fears in this, but if done right, I think there is a lot of potential to benefit everyone. B teams... and well, no. Just... no.

Was just going to post that. Will be a fair shakeup for the Championship and below.

May also pose a pathway for Celtic and Rangers if they don't want to dilute the leagues too much.

Was going to post about this.

Would be interesting. Not sure on how they argue that it will increase revenue?? Lower league clubs will have less home games.

Rangers are welcome, but not the IRA supporting filth that is Celtic

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not but there ar reports David Ginola is in a coma after collapsing at a game yesterday. There was a tweet from him yesterday saying he was alright, but that apparently came from his management. Details a bit sketchy, but sounds a bit worrying.

It's nice that Stan Collymore has finally got over a long time opposition to rich foreign owners in football just in time for Villa to get one of their own.

Twente in trouble

moomba this is really bugging me. Watching the cricket from Headingley in Leeds and behind the stadium pavilion is a football ground. It's not Leeds United as they are not near there, do you know who's ground that is?

would it be the rugby one?

Celtic and Rangers in England isn't going to happen. More than enough English clubs know the end result is themselves bumped two spots down. And while Celtic and Rangers would love it, the financial gains are a lot less lucrative from the English perspective. Not to mention the SFA, FA and UEFA would all have to agree to it.

Gods, you're a cliche. We know why you want Norn Iron to do well in the Euros.

dinamo moscow have been relegated for the first time in their 93 year history. chris samba is their cb. i fail to see how it is a coincidence.

cska end up winning the league, ensuring the fairytale rostov win doesnt end up occurring.

But he was the missing piece for Arsenal.

Gotta say the state of football in Germany, France and Italy is truly awful being ruined by the cartels that is Bayern, PSG and Juve having all won cups today to back up their league titles.

At least there's healthy competition in say England, Spain and Portugal

Spain obviously is the benchmark with their teams performing domestically and internationally, but England and Portugal are at least doing their brands no harm. But yeah, it's concerning for mine seeing how money dominates other competitions.

They'll get more revenue because there'll be less dead rubber games and there'll be less midweek games which get very poor turnouts in league one and two.
