:(

Does it deserve its own memorium thread?

Horrible horrible news :(

Nothing on this scale I remember reading about occurring since the Man United and Grande Torino teams were wiped out

No one should jump on a plane going to do your job and not come back home

RIP souls

the fuel thing i think was the pilot dumped the fuel before it went down to prevent a fireball/explosion.

The aircraft in question (RJ-85 / BAE 146) cannot dump fuel. The electrical failure would have been caused by both engines quitting. One of the reports I read said that rescuers couldn't find aviation fuel at the crash site.

It appears that the aircraft used did not have the range to complete the flight safely. Utter madness, this is a company that was providing transport to the Argentinian NT.

it could've been gas, not fuel then. something was released to prevent it from becoming a fireball.

I would ignore reports / claims of fuel being dumped. It physically is not possible on this aircraft (BAE-146).

This site explains the predicament pretty well:

As you can see the aircraft could not complete the flight safely fully loaded as it was. Likely that any electrical "failure" was caused by fuel running out and engines shutting down.

What a monumental tragedy, hard to comprehend how hard this is going to hit the families, teammates and officials that survived or wern't on that plane. All the instagram photos of the team on the plane are gut wrenching.

Rest in Peace
