Can't exceed the 6 for platform length, and you cant time them much closer at all because of safety and signalling anyway.

I think that very second train from Cockburn has 3 carriages, SH. They alternate with 6-carriage trains.

When I used to get the train in the mornings it was a mixture of 6, 3 and 4 car carriages.

I always found that there'd be a train at say 8.00, then one at 8.02 then nothing until 8.10. Then one at 8.12 etc.

Looking at the timetable I've got a vivid imagination...
