A question on buying rounds.

Going out with a few friends and there has always been a rounds etiquette - your turn you buy, I've always followed the rules.

However, I am trying to stop drinking for a while and would like to abstain from getting involved in buying at all as i will just be drinking soft drink, but fear that won't go down so well, I dont want to be a tightarse, just don't want to get invovled, there is only so much diet coke one can drink.

Should I buy the first round and make it clear that's it? Would it be ok, just not to be involved at all. Or do I need to suck it up ?

Thoughts?

If you're buying your own soft drinks the entire night, it'd be pretty shit of your mates to make you buy them a round. I think you'll be right.

If they're your mates, why would they care? You're not drinking, so you're not buying. That's fair.

Does anyone know an application on the computer that can create mind maps.... that is free... and good?

Just buy your own drinks as you need and don't get in on the round. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. You just need to be quite explicit with everyone at the start that you aren't in on the round.

No need to buy the first round. Why buy a round of 5 beers if you're only going to have 1?

Anyone that has a problem with that is a bit of a tosser IMO.

What's wrong with the NBL? I don't follow the game, so I'm sure who does can explain why, with participation numbers being strong, and Australians doing well in the American league, leading to greater interest in that, can't Australia support a local league. It seems odd to me.
The NBA is of such a higher standard that I find it hard to watch the NBL when I watch multiple NBA games a week.

Ultra defensive mindset of coaches of the successful clubs (Perth and Cairns in particular) sucks the life out of the top of the table contests.

Car people.

My car key all of a sudden refuses to lock my drivers side door. It will unlock it, but it won't lock it. (and can't lock it from the inside). The spare key will lock it tho (thankfully).

Why is this so. o_O

I had a similar problem the other week (remote on key wouldn't lock, but would unlock). Turns out a passenger hasn't shut their door properly the previous day. Took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure that one out

Yeah well mine is a problem with the key or the lock.

The drivers door also leaks from the top. It's not fun driving around in a down pour. :(

Maybe it's time for a new car soon. This one is almost 20 years old (I've had it close to 10)

It sounds like you just need a new battery for the key. Do you have a dealer nearby that specializes in your make of car?

The door will just be a rubber seal. I wouldn't get rid of a reliable car for a couple of jobs that should only cost $100 or so.

So it's just a straight-up key without keyless entry? Just get a locksmith to cut a new one from the spare then.

It is a straight up key. Hard to believe I know. My car also has a tape deck and no central locking.

Yeah, my uncle is servicing the car next week (lol... i have a filthy mind), hopefully its an easy fix.

But still, the car is pretty old. Dont want it breaking down, when I have no alternatives to get to work. Dont want it to get to that stage..
So filthy I got no clue what filthy thing your mind is thinking.
