500How much Monopoly money are you officially meant to start with?
Ticket to Ride. Great game. What are some really great board games to play, for about 7 people?

Surely if you have a bunch of retro songs IE Summer of 69 etc, the sober ones will enjoy it, and those who are blind will love it even more.Alright... songs to play at a 21st. I never ever argue with my Mum, we get along extremely well, but we've been blueing about this for the last week and can't come to an agreement.
She's of the belief that the music played should be commercial top 40 pop from go to whoa – supposedly the main thing is "appealing to the masses" and that's the only way to do so. I have no issues with 80s and 90s pop and will happily play that, but it's the tripe from the last 15 years which is truly awful and I don't want anywhere near my party.
Given I have about 60 of my mates coming along and the extreme majority of them are into similar music to myself (for want of a better word 'indie' rock/pop/hip hop etc), I don't think that cliched party music is appealing to the masses at all. It would rather be directed at the family and 'older' friends that are there, of which there'll probably be about 30–35
Now I'm not an idiot, I wouldn't be choosing songs that are divisive or will kill a vibe – it would more just be inoffensive dance pop a la Cut Copy, Miami Horror, World's End Press etc... – but her argument there is that "no one knows these songs".
In my humble I believe that my 21st playlist, which I hold dear to me given the important role music plays in my life, should at least be somewhat representative of what I'm into – but the counter-argument is that my parents are throwing down probably a couple of thousand dollars on hosting this party therefore they get the somewhat final say.
Where do I go with this? I've had one mate tell me I'm overthinking it and I shouldn't worry, and another mate genuinely disbelieve that my mum was suggesting Katy Perry and Pitbull songs and thought I was taking the piss.
Help me, GD!?

Why don't you have both? Doesn't need to be exclusively one genre does it?
Is it your birthday? That's totally my MO – I was always going to have both, have it a balance between old school typical party music and some newer stuff that's still danceable but just not as cliched.
Unfortunately I'm being ruled with a bit of an iron fist here, she's being very stubborn about it all.
Thinking of just making a decoy playlist and then running with my preferred one on the night, they won't know any different
It's more like 1250 isn't it?
Settlers of Catan is an awesome game but to play with 6 you need the expansion. What are some really great board games to play, for about 7 people?

In saying this, how are you playing the music? CD player, iPod/aux etc I say this because I guarantee you, people will take the cable out and put something they want on. It's happened at every party I've ever been at. I wish people would respect the hosts music choice but it rarely happens.
One thing that my mates and I have started doing is using Spotify. Now if you pay for one month then cancel or get the free trial, you can get people to enter their choices but click add to queue so that it has to follow an order. Now this involves trusting your mates not to skip songs (I hate when people skip others choices/or don't let a song finish. Massive pet peeve even if I hate the song) but can be really awesome to use if people do it properly.
You get 2 $500s so it's definitely 1250 or above.Maybe it is 1500. I don't remember.
Lol who gives a shit about the music at a party
Most people.
