I've heard a tiny bit about Dying Light 2, all is good. As for RDR2, I didn't fall in love with that game until the third chapter. I beat the game and then started a new game with the intention to 100% everything. I stopped playing eventually, but I did a ton of sidequests and optional stuff early. I felt the game was best when you let it lead you around the map, ie from the storyline. If you roam the entire environment before you're suppposed to visit, it does ruin some of the immersion. I think I'm rambling, but fair enough. I nearly gave it up early on, too.

I've been fully addicted to playing Diablo 2 Resurrected on the Switch, I'm 50/50 whether I'll buy the newest Pokemon game. I haven't enjoyed one si nce Gold/Silver.
Diablo 2 is one of those games that is timeless. It's almost perfect.
I've started to appreciate well told linear stories a lot more. The open world fad unless done super well has started to grow old. Guardians of the Galaxy was my favourite game this year/last year. Just a super tight story and ride all the way through. Felt like watching an old cartoon with the way they had the story keep moving constantly.

For all those doubting GTA 6, lets not forget their last effort was Red Dead Redemption 2 which was one of the most beautiful games ever released, fantastic graphics, fantastic story. Great characters.
I won't count Rockstar out, even if the head honcho's are out. RDR2 looks like a next generation game, what they did was incredible. The created an incredible world to explore, I can't think of any other game that comes close to what the pulled with RDR 2. It might be my favourite game from that generation, if not, it's #2 behind The Witcher 3.

The problem with later efforts in franchises is that the people who made the franchise great have moved on by then, they hand them over to the B team then the C team. No-one good wants to work on yet another opportunity to milk money from rusted on fans.

This is why GTA 2 is still the best. The whole thing got shit when they went 3D.

I've got no hopes for GTA6. They've spent the last however long milking GTAV and perfecting their monetisation strategies. Online quickly became a joke but releasing more stuff for people to spend money on and grind for took all their attention away from the game updates they promised. I'm guessing GTA6 will be the culmination of all the predatory crap they've learned from GTAV.
Microtransactions in games need to piss off.

Microtransactions in games need to piss off.

Agree. Don't see it happening unfortunately.
I think the best we can hope for now is for devs and publishers to settle for a simple microtransaction store for cosmetics. Nothing pay to win, no gambling mechanics - some do it 'right' already but we've got a long way to go.

Hoping more serious legislation comes out about loot boxes and similar features that essentially sell gambling to children. I know there has been some action taken in this space already particularly in Europe but don't think it's going to disappear without a fight.

Apparently the game developers use the same people who program pokies to get kids hooked on the random rewards mechanisms. They actively employ people to add it in. Unless regulation comes in it's not going anywhere soon.

Season 2 of Catching Killers is out on Netflix today if anyone needs anything to watch.

First season was really good, they go around interviewing the officers and detectives assigned to some of the most well known homicide cases.

Can't happen, too many people want "free" games

I dropped $4k on the Eiyuuden kickstarter to get me a statue in the game as I utterly loved Suikoden to the point where I am umming and aahing about $400 on a PAL Suiko2 since I was but a cheap teen during it's initial release.

I just want people who GAF about the product and have pride in their work, like hearing the dev on a monthly basis or rando devs popping into Jap conventions randomly to say hi and it's just fun campy moments and time.

Then I see something like what Anthem was for example, so in my wheelhouse narratively and what that promise was, but everything attached was like a smack in the face and it ended up being what it was. Like with the above, I'd say love a free hat or a free tatt to stick on a toon in something I love and spent coin on, splurged as like a testimony for peeps I used to chat with to immoralise in statue form in spiritual successor, but free game, nah, gimmie reto things as damnit I want my LOD sequel or remaster you bastards...

That and gatcha exists and we have people shilling NFT's as if they're not a scam, so it's not like even with regulation people would give much of a damn to not include them.

That is I want in games, I want passion driven products, not something that is stale and brown.

That Pusey guy should be locked up in an insane place. He cannot be normal.

I just had to have a look to see why he's being brought up again. Can't believe the psychopath is still at it.
Hope they lock him up and leave him there.

I'm surprised the gambling stuff is even allowed. Like GTA V I can get a shark card and go and gamble it away in the casino for a chance to win fake money.

Most of the stuff I like gaming wise isn't that bad.
Train Sim 2022 and Train Sim World 2 are DLC heavy but that's the nature of simulation games like that. Most of the time I'll wait until it's on sale to buy.
Graphically they're decent.

It's basically only allowed through a loophole but countries are very slowly catching on and banning it.

I've seen the Train Sim stuff, isn't that the one with literally thousands of dollars worth of individual trains and stuff if you went and bought them all?
If you're into that I don't think that's necessarily too bad, just go pick and choose what you want and you get what you pay for. Certainly not predatory like loot boxes or pay to win stuff.

don't get started on the NFTs hahaha. a heated enough debate that might get it banned from this thread too.

This may seem a little inappropriate to some, apologies in advance to any offended. Thought I'd post a picture of my new mistress all dressed up in the red, white and black. My existing partner isn't very happy about it, but is resigned to having to share my attention.

I had a Gretsch back in the 90s, I loved it...wish I'd kept it.
