I've started to appreciate well told linear stories a lot more. The open world fad unless done super well has started to grow old. Guardians of the Galaxy was my favourite game this year/last year. Just a super tight story and ride all the way through. Felt like watching an old cartoon with the way they had the story keep moving constantly.I've heard a tiny bit about Dying Light 2, all is good. As for RDR2, I didn't fall in love with that game until the third chapter. I beat the game and then started a new game with the intention to 100% everything. I stopped playing eventually, but I did a ton of sidequests and optional stuff early. I felt the game was best when you let it lead you around the map, ie from the storyline. If you roam the entire environment before you're suppposed to visit, it does ruin some of the immersion. I think I'm rambling, but fair enough. I nearly gave it up early on, too.
I've been fully addicted to playing Diablo 2 Resurrected on the Switch, I'm 50/50 whether I'll buy the newest Pokemon game. I haven't enjoyed one si nce Gold/Silver.
Diablo 2 is one of those games that is timeless. It's almost perfect.
