Sure do, I'm impatiently waiting for the 4th book in the Final Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever, The Last Dark. This is the 10th & last book in this epic series that began in 1977.

I've read all of Sven Hassel's books, Frank Herbert, George Orwell, Evelyn Waugh, E. E. "Doc" Smith, Agatha Christie, Robert E. Howard, Douglas Adams, Clive Cussler, James Clavell, Stephen King, Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, among others, plus 100's of war books, sci-fi, tons of sci-fi series, fantasy, historical, biographies, etc.

Catch-22 is my favourite, followed by Sunk by Mochitsura Hashimoto.

I should have given up reading after Catch-22 20 years ago, as everything since then has been a letdown.

EDIT: Article is a tad biased towards English sides but you would expect that being from the BBC. Nothing against the BBC as if it had been written by a French outlet it would have been a bit biased towards them etc.

EDIT: By that I mean there were years when European sides had a limit on imports whereas English sides operated under more relaxed rules regarding British and Commonwealth countries. The 1984 Liverpool side is a good example. I recall one time when England didn't have a game but Liverpool had to reschedule it's match because it didn't have enough players due to other countries national commitments. Yeah I loosely followed Liverpool back then.

It went the other way actually, teams were hurt because Welsh, Scots and Saxons were all seen as different countries so teams couldn't use their squads. A situation that was not an issue in other countries without the separate identity issues. It also MASSIVELY inflated the cost of any decent English player.

I should have given up reading after Catch-22 20 years ago, as everything since then has been a letdown.

Most books have their own charm making them a worthwhile read.

Heller's claim to fame was incorporating many charms in Catch-22, the closest I've found to his work is Douglas Adams, who can also be varied whilst progressing the story. Heller still had his MacGuffin.

Most other novelists, ala Agatha Christie, have a single minded determination to reach the conclusion. Red herrings are allowed, but only when it is later seen to be part of the journey.

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your arseh*le. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
