I can't get into what people call the 'pure' RPG's but Oblivion and Skyrim plus New Vegas became comfortable enviroments for myself where I could do quests at my own pace and virtually do what I want to do, plus mods and console commands put a lot of lore breaking comedy into it

I personally consider a pure RPG a JRPG. I love turn based battle mechanics and it saddens me how since the Elder Scrolls series and similar RPG's have come about Japanese game developers seem to only be "westernising" their RPGs.

Not to say i don't enjoy the Skyrims and Fallouts of the world but seeing as developers (in general) just want to copy whats cool right now just plain sucks. For example, look at how many ******* FPS's there are out there now since COD.

the elder quest games are the best games ever created....as far as a perfect game goes the elder scrolls goes close

Not sure they would dabble in an mmo though...could be a bad move for bethista

Fallout 1 and 2 were both turn based, and infinitely better games both for combat engine and story than Fallout 3, which was dumbed down for console kiddies. There was nothing better than getting a big **** off hammer and slamming people in the head with it and watching them skid across the map, then getting out your gun and blowing their head off.

In Fallout 2, for example, you could go to a farm where a man has started a cult, but his daughter is a bit of a ****, so you can seduce her...and at the end of the game, it says that her father believes it was an immaculate conception :D

Games like Phantasy Star and Final Fantasy et al are good, but in reality the JRPG is more about the story than any sort of skill. Because as long as you spnet the time grinding and stocked up on potions or whatever, you KNEW that you could beat it, because the story wouldn't progress otherwise.

If you want a challenge, play a the old school games like the Ultima series or even Baldur's Gate/Planescape Torment. Games where it was a true open world, and you could literally go anywhere. Back when dying multiple times wasn't seen as the game being too hard, but a challenge.

You're thinking of Tony "I still wear my fat clothes after completing my Jenny Craig diet" Jones.

Yes, I miss the Footy Channel. Couldn't justify paying Foxtel 120 bucks or so a month, then having to watch 12 ad blocks every 5 minutes while watching Criminal Minds. Now I can't justify trying to catch the odd Port game on free to air in QLD while looking forward to watching replays on the T Box days after the event
