Rewarding ...I've worked 6 years in the field I've just finished up at an aged care facility ... High care was too hard for me.

I enjoyed the variety in home care that I did for 3 years in Adelaide... aged care is just a production line unless you have adequate staffing levels

My ex Mrs worked for 2 disabled carer companies.Bloody good money with sleepovers and weekend and public holiday work.Good job for those getting to middle aged too that would have trouble getting employment.
Plenty of it up here in Alice Springs with plenty of disabled Aboriginals to look after.Trouble is only ones that want to do the work are Africans,Indians and pacific Islanders.Aussies ae either too lazy or reckon it is a shamejob.

... Seems to be the same all over with those you mention more inclined to do that work rather than Aussies.

I changed career to it at aged 50.

Yea ... the money can be good for weekend and public holiday but low at base rates.
