I'm of the opinion I couldn't give a **** about privacy so long as my banking details and passwords are safe. They can collect all the data they want on anything else. Couldn't give less of a ****. It only ends up in line graphs and bar graphs anyway.

I agree. And anyone who doesn't agree should learn to deal quickly, because Privacy 2015 is like Copyright 1999.

Something you might be interested in watching/get a laugh out of.

Haha I have the Amsterdam flag on the wall in my room.

Been reading a book about Adelaide murders and the Hope Forest Massacre in 1971 has me intrigued probably due to how vague the information is surrounding it.. How the hell does a bloke kill 10 people then only serve only 8 years in prison?

"He walked into the house and hit his wife with the mallet, before shooting her. As the family was roused with the noises, he systematically shot them all - his sister-in-law, his seven children ranging in age from 19 to 4, and then his nephew."

Can any old timers on here remember the case & expand on why Bartholomew was released?

Hilarious roast of his players by a coach in suburban Melbourne.
Sounds like Darren from Ciggybutt Brain fame.

Why was the slug who murdered Masa Vukotic released (prior)?

Why was the slug who killed Jill Meagher released (prior)?

Why was the slug who killed Daniel Morcombe released (prior)?

There's been chatter for a while that Von Einem could be paroled at some stage.

The Australian justice system has never been good at recognising when to throw away the key for the safety of others, let alone as adequate punishment.

Totally agree but jeesh released back into the community with a new identity 8 years after wasting 10 people? there has to be more to it surely.

It was a rage crime and one of those "it was so out of character, he's never done anything wrong in his entire life before" type cases, but that's the softest penalty I've ever heard of in modern Australia.

*Originally sentenced to death, commuted to life, released 8 years later... Bizarre

Yeah, 8-9 months per life he brutally snuffed out. Comical.

Then you have that campaigner christopher worrel who died in a car crash before he faced justice. James miller got every cancer under the sun and died in prison in 2008 after being apprehended in 79.

There was a bloke called Roger Radford who I think was SA's longest serving prisoner at the time he died in Mobilong in 2009. He 'only' killed one person - a woman he believed was his wife's lover. He was sentenced to life with a non-parole period of 22 years (later reduced to 17 years). He served the full non-parole period, but despite numerous applications/appeals parole was never approved.

One line he tried was that he only shot the woman because she had hit him over the head with a cricket bat, ie in self defence. I think the balance of probabilities had it that she hit him over the head because he came after her with an assault rifle.

Radford was diagnosed as schizophrenic around 1998. He apparently believed he was the Queen's illegitimate son. He refused to accept the diagnosis and wouldn't take his medication.

He was found dead in the shower in his cell in 2009, deemed to be from natural causes. I don't know if SA has/had a definition of how many years 'life' imprisonment means, but he had been inside for around 25 years when he died. So, it turned out to be 'for the term of his natural life', but it looks like they had thrown away the key anyway.

I heard 25 years is length of a life sentence here in SA.
