So much this. Plus by leasing the fuel and reclaiming it for eventual storage you can ensure non-proliferation. This is such an opportunity in which SA has a natural comparative advantage (lots of uranium ore, remote and geologically stable areas for storage etc.) it's difficult to believe we are not pursuing all the value added opportunities beyond digging up and selling expensive dirt.yep, I'm proudly in the uranium camp and our little operation alone will equate to reducing 10% of Australia's CO2 emissions, with the full target being a reduction by 50%.
currently I have "no conflict of interest" re what happens in SA but boy I wish we had. I'm currently in the "dumb" side of uranium and simply digging it up.........proudly WAs first uranium mine in 4 decades.
What I wish for is a ban on selling uranium and the requirement to:
- enrich uranium
- produce nuclear fuel rods
- transport
- lease (not sell)
- cool
- recycle
- then store
This could be achieved for zero govt investment and create a centre of excellence in uranium, nuclear power, nuclear medicine, reprocessing and material science.
The word uranium waste is not very accurate as uranium "waste" is extremely valuable and the only source for many elements used in nuclear medicine, the renewable energy industry and electronics. It also happens to be the fuel for gen IV reactors, meaning the 100,00 year thing is probably 30-100 years.
Imagine the blue and white collar jobs by being the capital of the world's nuclear energy and medical industry? Sadly though, all we do is dig it up and say goodbye to tomorrow's most valuable resource. oh well.....
Add in pointless sex scenes and that's pretty much spot on.
Yeah it so is.

I dont understand the whole SBS Viceland thing but I do enjoy a couple of their programs including Vice World of Sport. Tonight's program is on the Serbian soccer derby in Belgrade between Partizan and Red Star. Called the Eternal Derby. I have heard about this derby being ultra intense but was unware of the violence associated around the derby. The 2 stadiums are only 400m apart. Seems like it's a hangover of the civil war and the 40% youth unemployment. There are thug fan groups within the fan groups of both sides. One of the Partizan's group has their own set of keys to the stadium and hassle management about how to run the club. All the crazy Serbian stereotypes you have heard are on show. Riots before the game, tearing up the stadium seats and throwing them at other sides fans and riot police, the game starts, the flares with loud bangs and bloody hell the amount of smoke. One big flare thrown onto the field creates so much smoke the game stops for 5 minutes. And the game continues the players take it in their stride and somehow their isn't a riot between fans afterwards.
