I was about to asked you how it stack up against TFW. Good to hear.

I'm not seeing it until Friday afternoon. Got to dodge spoilers until then.

I don't think there's too many serious spoilers to be had, anyone can guess how it goes, but more than spoilers, I don't want to spoil the experience as a whole.

Matter of fact I feel I've already said too much and may have raised your hopes higher than mine initially were.

Important to remember that TFA is Episode VII so has to be compared to those that came before, which I feel it wasn't good, and as a whole was a completely pointless film that didn't respect the saga and story.

Rogue One does not bear that burden directly, but it does have to meet certain requirements, and it does with flying colours. A great start for the Star Wars anthology films.

I don't want anyone to get their hopes up, so I will say this. You start seeing and hearing some familiar faces and voices, rebel pilots from Star Wars. Unfortunately, this bloke isn't one of them.

Thoughts?

For anyone else reading at this hour, I reckon it killed Force Awakens. Killed it.

I see TFA as a Year Zero for Star Wars - a new book in the series rather than the new chapter you might have been expecting. It's like "Here's Episode 1-6 - the Anakin/Luke arc with the rise of the Empire and the Rebellion. Now we'll show you 7-12 (and really we all know they'll make more than 3 more episodes because you don't pay 4 billion for a property to make 6 films) which is the Luke/Rey arc with the rise of the First Order and the Resistance." And so on. But that's just me.

But I digress. Rogue One was great - it tied up a lot of questions people have asked over the years about the OT and successfully married the PT into the OT. It was basically Episode 3.5.

The Luke/Rey arc is so unnecessary though, and it really diminishes the happy ending of ROTJ. Then there's a new big bad pulled out of their arse in Snoke...

I also digress. Rogue One is very good, what a cracker of an ending. One of the best final thirds ever?

So those who have seen R1, I'm hoping to be able to take my 10yo and 8yo to see during school holidays, is it suitable for that age?

Paying for movies is so 1990's.

I'm seeing movies via the FTA movie channels I'd have otherwise never seen. For example, the other night I watched a thoroughly enjoyable film staring Christopher Walken, Alicia Silverstone, and Encino Man, about an eccentric scientist who takes his family into the underground fallout shelter as tensions rise during the Cuban missile crisis, thinking the world is facing an inevitable nuclear Armageddon. When a plane crashes into his house he believes the bomb has been dropped and locks him and his family underground for 30 years. When they resurface in the modern day mild hilarity ensues. I'd never pay to watch it, but more than happy to settle down for the evening with a bag of salt and vinegar Thins and watch it on FTA.

Thanks for the spoiler alert bro.

Yes, I would never have thought pay to see that movie but I saw it on a plane and quite enjoyed it. And the taxpayer paid for the plane flight :p
