R1 has had an amazing turnaround in public perception from the trailers/casting announcements.

- Both Rebellion and Empire being loaded with WHITE GUYS outside the main characters probably does that.
- There were only maybe 4 speaking parts for women that I noticed (Jyn, Mum, The General In White, A Pilot)
- Jyn Erso neatly undermined as female lead because she's only important because of her dad.

Cool effects tho bro. Mad Vaderz.

Leia doesn't count because she was a f@#kin cartoon! GTFO with that CGI shit.

Also on Vader that whole scene with Captain Australia in the midde of the film should've been cut, I found myself just waiting for him to pop up at the end there. It would've been much better if he went completely unsighted and then BAM! surprise space samurai massacre.

Count the number of characters in R1 that aren't desert dwelling dystopian rebels... where were all the funky aliens and quirky side characters?

Even the token cute robot was bland. Especially compared to BB-8

Only two are desert dwellers... well I don't count Forrest Whitaker's character. There were plenty of aliens in this. Actually I credit the director. One of Lucas's main tricks to evoke emotion is to show cool looking aliens dying, the sci-fi equivalent of killing the dog. R1 showed a lot of aliens but only focused on human redshirts dying.

Finally caught R1 this morning, very satisfied. Moreso than with TFA.

I don't know, is there? Me and a mate were just talking about who he reminds us off, Sheldon Cooper came up, as did Stewie from Family Guy. I used the Sheldon comment cause there's also a physical likeness there, so Imma go with that.

Don't understand how some think the TFA characters are better than R1 characters. Understand other reasons why they like TFA more even if I don't agree, but not that one.

Jyn exceptional, then there was a Po clone. The blind monk was fantastic. All the rogue 1 cast were great. The one that stole the show was the droid, to the point of I want him written into the script.
