Wonder if wrinkles will make a big deal of this like he did with Jacko/Schulzy

How about we don't heritage list a ******* smoke stack.
Nah, this is stuff that cant be brought back. Listings allow character to remain and prevent glass boxes.

I'm surprised that the smoke stack at the old Port Stanvac site wasn't heritage listed.

Gee souf ozzies hold onto some weird things, be it a smoke stack or trees, people in sa a weird obsession with trees for some reason.
When i climb windy hill and look at my city, its the greenery that really hits home. Its ****ing beautiful and unique.

Yeah I don't mind heritage listings as long as they're relevant and sensible. It's just about finding that balance between preservation and progress.

Progress around the heritage nearly always looks awesome. It simply takes a decent architect.

Given the rampage developers went on here in the 60s and 70s and 80s, knocking down anything and everything in a mad scramble to put up car-parks and office blocks and similar grand monstronsities, it's little wonder if the pendulum swung back too far the other way.

FMD, I weep every time I see that f@%king Hungry Jack's car-park on the corner of Rundle and Pulteney...

Absolutely... I love living along southern beaches but it's just a little group of people that seem to stop progress in this state.

I get that there are a lot of old buildings and other crap here but just because it's old doesn't mean it's culturally significant a needs to be saved.

they paved paradise and put up a parking lot

I'm a bit on the fence with this one, all in favour of heritage listing, but I think the Brickworks' chimney is an ugly mofo.

The chimney by the Greek on Halifax though, they better never touch that one.

I ****ing hate the No Progress types, but the destruction of the Jubilee Exhibition Building is also one of Adelaide's great shames.

100 year old generic european building is important but a 50,000 year old culture isn't

#straya
It cease to be generic when it is built on the other side of the world in local stone.

Oh, absolutely, old doesn't mean it has heritage value.

Equally, new doesn't make it progressive.

There's an often ignored historical context as to why historians, conservationists and what not are so militant re: development in Adelaide.

JFC, half the state would readily turn the Riverbank precinct into Darling Harbour II if they had their way...

Progress shouldn't be stalled because a couple of already half dead trees are standing in the way, but sensible heritage listings have their place.

Currently in Whyalla. If I was to describe it, 30% of it looks like Daveron Park, 20% like Elizabeth, 20% like Hackham, 15% Andrews Farm, 10% like a nice country town and 5% like Aldinga Beach.
Catching up with PB?
