What's the go with people currently having to start or finish a sentence with "to be honest", just speaketh the truth all the time and get rid of that stupid saying thanks.

Which generally means that something offensive is about to be said.

Two things that really annoy me, in addition to the superfluous use of the work "like", are people that start a sentence with "I mean" and people that when they are telling me something punctuate their sentences with "you know".

When you say something I assume that the words you are saying is what you mean and that you are not speaking in code unless you tell me otherwise.
If you believe that I already know something why are you wasting my time telling me again?

I also have a Pavlovian reaction to that phrase, except my reply is "Can I still be Garth?"

They were showing the bridge and the CBD skyline so I imagine he meant the city of Sydney on the harbour rather than the harbour itself which I'm fairly certain predates human habitation.
