Around about 2012 went on a QM2 cruise from Adel to Syd. The 'trip' was like tripping seeing how the other 1/2 live.
Average age was old with passengers largely in 2 brackets, rich widows and guys on their last lap. A weird bubble existence
and tho' enjoyable the 5 days was enough for me. What struck me was the 'one up manship' in casual conversation that
went like this "oh how long are you on the boat for" (code for how rich are you). Pose factor.........off the charts.
What gets politely unsaid is the obscenely underpaid underclass oops sorry 'staff' especially the cleaners.
Each to their own, very popular with women being waited on hand n foot. Once was enough for me.

I have never seen the allure of cruises, if you don't catch gastro you permanently lose your appetite once you see the ferals go crazy with prawns at the buffet.

Why were brush fences ever a thing?

The material was readily available and free and construction was simple DIY.

Lol @ old mate whacking the pedestrian crossing button constantly for like 5 minutes in seething levels of anger because fire engines halted the cycle. You would think at his age you would know doing this doesn't make it go faster, and that fire engines stop cycles so they can pass safely.

I had a engineering student at Adelaide Uni tell me that if you broke the light curtain on the lift in the engineering building with your hand 21 times the doors would close.
