I must be a sucker I am also paying an extra 5 bucks a month to have sky racing 2.

This really irks me now.

Yep. They will keep charging you big bucks unless you kick up a stink. I make it a yearly ritual. I do the same with my power bills and insurance - saves me a mint every year. Never just coast along.

I am now finding out this is not ideal.

I've got 2 boxes with platinum package. Was paying $90 p/m for 12 months.

Jumped back up to $150.

I'll be calling again tomorrow.

I feel comfy as **** now, all set for the AFL season :)

Foxtel internet is an absolute rip off. Change providers. Use foxtel for your TV needs only. Even then it's wonky unless you want live sport.
 
One thing i have heard work if youre not on direct debit, make a few small payments and a big one and phone up and say you are in some financial difficulties and they might have some sympathy on you.

Every time I ring up i'm actually pretty honest.

"Look I don't really want to cancel, and as you can see I'm a 15+ year customer, but I don't want to be paying what I do when you can clearly do a better rate for me."

It's a painless exercise whilst speaking to the cancellation department.
 
lol, i'm costing Foxtel hundreds now. This is great. Go forward and claim your discounts!

Also on the internet/phone side of things, I've got unlimited downloads, and two mobile phones (not handsets, byo handsets) for 115 a month.

The mobile phone deal is pretty sweet. 29 bucks a month for unlimited calls and text and a 7gb data limit.

This is usually my schtick too. I often throw in a "i'm not really watching X and Y" and they discount those particular items I mention.

We've been foxtel customers 17 years this year but the only thing that's going to come back and kick me in the nuts is that i had changed the account into my name when my mum passed away last year and they'll probably put some "you're not entitled to discounts yet" bullshit.

A business with millions of customers will not spend time contacting customers to tell them "hey we can make it cheaper for you." it costs money and time to contact the people, then it costs them money to downgrade any costs.

For example, power companies will not update your plan to new plans if they are cheaper. They will just keep charging you the old rate and you are none the wiser. Always check up now and then.

You will get a good result, it won't matter how long you've been with them tbh. They are going hand over fist to retain customers at the moment.

Foxtel: $150 if you have absolutely everything and some with no discounts whatsoever.

Get on the blower pronto and give 'em hell.

I get unlimited data from Internode for $60 per month.
I don't have Foxtel but it shure as shite ain't worth $210 per month.

Am paying $150 for unlimited 100/40 nbn and foxtel base package with sport. Is okay. Could probably do better.

If anyone hasn't already, and you have a good credit rating - I strongly suggest you call your electricity provider and ask them for a better deal based on your credit history. I just scored a further 8% pay on time discount on my energy bill with Energy Australia through using this tactic. I also had a look at some other providers and their discounts and charge rates and used that to my advantage as well.

Money for jam.

Most of us had the electricity cut off already.

Well, at least those of us who actually live in a dwelling that ever had it connected in the first place.
