Lol you’re a grumpy bluebagger this morningNothing wrong with calling out trolls. Hard to understand as a Brissy supporter as no clubs actually view you as a rival to bother disliking you.
You look to period when both clubs started doing most things right to improve their list from year to year. Importantly you need to realise as a club you will not get every de-listing, trade, free agency or draft decision right. The on-field results unlikely to be linear improvement
For Lions list improvement started at end of 2013 when can trace them getting guys like McStay, Gardiner in and Lewis Taylor.
For Carlton it was two years later at end of 2015 when Malthouse gone and old list management team gone and traded to get more early draft picks to get guys like Charlie Curnow, Harry McKay and Cuningham in.

That is the thing. Not every move will work. It is a numbers game where you aim to get most right and not change course just because a few things do not work out. But most have for Lions and that list of names from drafting and trading fills up around 90% of their team in 2019. Zorko and Daniel Rich are about the only regulars in team now that pre-date this period of list improvement for Lions. It does take six off-seasons to start seeing the wheel truly turn for them. For the coaches that is a tough gig to survive and why most don't.Brilliant post. Gee whiz what a job by Brisbane to do that year after year. Well done and thats despite Scache not turning out as hoped.
Following that timeline we are up to their Charlie Cameron/Rayner year.
Hope Papley can be that for us!
Can you clarify what you mean? Do you mean the Adelaide trade looks better for us since they will be missing out on Rowell and Anderson? If nothing else Teague has saved the Carlton footy club jumping from 17th to 16th as the top two are elite! And pick 3 looks open or at worst a vic boy.
If they miss out on a big name Flanders and butler would be a great draft haul..
I'm sure there are a few out there who dislike us Juddy. Maybe some Pies supporters from 2002-03 who are still around.Nothing wrong with calling out trolls. Hard to understand as a Brissy supporter as no clubs actually view you as a rival to bother disliking you.
But remember for every Pie supporter crying about all that, think of the warm tingling feel inside and amusement it give to so many many more watching on that continue to have a soft spot for Lions. Way more with a soft spot for Lions. Way more...I'm sure there are a few out there who dislike us Juddy. Maybe some Pies supporters from 2002-03 who are still around.

I am one...like watching the Lions because they play a good style of footy.I'm sure there are a few out there who dislike us Juddy. Maybe some Pies supporters from 2002-03 who are still around.

Not this claptrap again
In 2013 the Lions saw four young talented first round draft picks walk out the door - Polec, Sam Docherty, Billy Longer, Patrick Karnezis – and also Elliot Yeo (a former pick No.30), the so called "Go Home Five".
They weren’t actively improving their list by losing those five and replacing them with fecking Lewis Taylor and Gardiner!!
In 2014 they traded away early picks (and Jack Crisp another kid) for Beams and Christensen....that isn’t a club ‘rebuilding’.
The big change at the Lions came at end of 2016 - they cleared out the football manager, senior coach and list manager.
Brisbane started their present successful build when they got the right people into key roles in the club.
Why do Carlton fans still persist with this crap?

Saying goodbye to those who don't want to be at your club is a form of list-improvement - even if it means short-term pain on-field.
Also, it depends how you view the beginning of a rebuild - if it's when you start bringing in the players that will ultimately form your best 22, then 2013 absolutely was the beginning.
Brought in across 2013-14, in order of importance: Andrews, Gardiner, Robinson, McStay, and Christensen

It should be noted I did only focus on the ins that came in that have mostly worked. All clubs are constantly ‘rebuilding’ and drafting players they hope will be part of their best 22.Saying goodbye to those who don't want to be at your club is a form of list-improvement - even if it means short-term pain on-field.

Yeah with Moore, Langdon, Dunn out and doubt over Roughy with concussion he would be handy tomorrow against the Suns.Darcy Gardiner would be your best defender.
You don't watch enugh Lions games to really form an opinion then. Gardiner is criminally underrated, really should be in AA discussion as he never gets beaten. Would say he is on par with Moore eexcept Gardiner is a better defender whereas Moore is a better offensive playerYeah with Moore, Langdon, Dunn out and doubt over Roughy with concussion he would be handy tomorrow against the Suns.
Agree with this 100%. His "heart" was in the right place, he just struggled when it came to match day tacticsThink even our players think Bolton was holding them back...but his development in previous years still will have benefits in the long run.
NavyBlueTJ35 take a look here, this is what i am talking about.
Think we can all agree that Brisbane and Carlton have a far brighter on field future than Collingwood.
