Well I'm pleased Drummond is taking a break, maybe it will make him a little less negative/biased when he returns :thumbsu:

Nikki, if it gets out of hand then of course use your powers and lock this thread but for the time being I think it's good to discuss the matter at hand :thumbsu:

I can't remember a time when so many people are racking up so many red cards! Is it a case of the mods cracking down or are our fellow Big Footy people just going a bit over the top lately! :)

a bit of both.

There are forum rules - and everyone is expected to post according to those rules.

There is always speculation when red cards are handed out as to why - and was it fair etc.......but the bottom line is - it's near impossible to pass comment on these things with any credibility unless you are in possession of all the facts and circumstances......;)

Moderators will not be discussing the reasons for individual's red cards as no explanation is necessary - that's a matter for the Mod and the poster.

2 points to remember.....

Some posters like to blame everyone but themselves for the crap they post. Perhaps time a few of them grow up and take responsibility for their own actions. No-one is standing over them and making them post abuse and rubbish.

Second - with tens of thousands of posters here - and 99.8% of those having never received an infraction...........it's really difficult to get all misty over those who claim victimisation and get infracted time and time again. They are a tiny minority - and won't be missed.

This board used to be one of the best, but its ridiculous when posters are red-carded for daring to highlight past personal attacks that Mods have made.

It seems there are forum rules that everyone is supposed to abide by - unless you are a Mod.

And if you don't like someone's post - then why not just delete it rather than banning them?

As I said - unless you know the full facts...............;)

Sometimes it is necessary to remind the mods that this is FOOTBALL DISCUSSION FORUM designed for the purpose of fun.

If people are doing stuff clearly over the line ( releasing the names of those they shouldnt for eg) then come down on it. But Christ this is not the UN. Its not that important.

I have recently seen mods change thread titles to insult a particular poster, issue red cards to posters for asking legitimate questions...I repeat this is a football forum.

Those with the least power, are more likely to brandish it.

I broke the rules in the round 21 teams thread on the main board...i understand that. I wrote that 'McDougall was finally starting full forward! Don't tell Caro'. But you are only meant to posts the teams in that particular thread. Copped a 24 hour ban. Fair enough, i broke the rules, weak but fair. But the round 22 teams thread was a free for all and none of the posts were deleted or red carded. :(

Yep, Ive proof of that when a mute Bomber mod tried to discredit me with slander:rolleyes:....

Buts its water off a ducks back with me....I dare not give it a response because he has the ability to edit my posts and change words further.
FKG WNKER!

A few points.

Over-the-top personal attacks are not on regardless (as opposed from friendly banter) - as per BF etiquette. There has been a bit too much of this lately. Personally attacking a moderator is just asking for trouble - you can only push us so far. If you have a problem with a particular moderator, I suggest you take it up with one of the other moderators.

If you stick to discussing football or the topic at hand on Bay114, then you won't have a problem. Disussing why a thread has moved or other pointless stuff just detracts from the thread.

If footy threads continually get derailed with non-footy related posts, it turns regular posters off from visiting our board. I don't want to see this happen - so there needs to be healthy balance.

We can't make everyone happy all the time (& some posters will never be happy), but we hope that we run the board so the majority of posters enjoy coming here.

Sorry Nikki, I actually meant it as more of a joke thread cause I found it funny how much the reds have increased lately!

there's no harm in discussing these things in general.....:thumbsu:

I swear some people think it's a conspiracy - and it's always good to provide a bit of perspective in terms of how marginal the issue is in the context of the broader BigFooty membership

is that bigfooty membership still the best deal in town?? :D

I don’ post here a lot but I’ve been a member for a while now. These days there are so many more red cards handed out and for seemingly a lot less.

Funny how people pass judgment on issues they don't have details on...

Ahh internet discussion board politics, gotta love it :)

I honestly think if everyone just doesn't take things so seriously and to heart the world of internet forums would be a better place.

Unfortunately not everyone is laid back like the Kdog.

Too much bureaucracy.
Internet forums are for internet drama. Don't rob me of that. It's entertaining.

Also, stop deleting my posts or I'll chuck a hissy fit.
