I have to wonder if the same people condeming Trigg tonight would have done so a press conference on Friday night with Rendell by his refuting the claims that Vlad made the day before.

How would it feel to have the entire football media label our club racists over the weekend?

Even tonight Vlad tried to get in first. By being on On the Couch. However Rendell did not have to follow the "company line" now and told it as it was. Would anyone believe him if he was wearing a Crows shirt after Vlads attack on Thirsday.

Is this what our club has fallen to? The horror of the media potentially calling us racist for an entire weekend has made us sack a terrific asset to the club without even giving him the opportunity to defend/explain himself?

I'm friends with someone who is certainly not subordinate to Andrew. They mentioned being told by him that 'the club were in for a couple of rough years with Sanderson as he is the most incompetent coach in the league'. Evidently he has been saying this to anyone that will listen. Now, after the weekend it seems unlikely that this is the case. Why make a point of undermining a clubs head coach? AD has a clear vendetta against the club and is actively doing what he can to undermine us.

What can be more damaging to us that removing the guy who has made the biggest contribution to selecting/building our list.

We all can see that this is a stitch up.....

please, this is our club... we must respond. Fans run this club, it represents what this state stands for. We have to speak up. 25 years given to football and a track record of developing/nurturing Aboriginal football. Rendell deserves better!!!

Collingwood is worth far more to the AFL than we are and therefore when they talk the AFL will listen, maybe. We are nothing but a lowly outer Club who actually need help from the AFL for our existence. You tell me now how we can afford to start behaving like a Collingwood?

Seriously.. what option did Trigg have? Lose 2/3 of the club's sponsors plus $Xmillion from the AFL, or hang MR out to dry. Those were his only options.

If you want to head-hunt someone, start with Vlad. This is Vlad's vendetta from start to finish, Trigg is just the meat in the sandwich.

For christ sake, he could have shown integrity!

One thread full of posts doesn't show the depth of feeling on this.

If the posts aren't abusive or offensive, there is no reason to delete/merge threads - people have a right to express their opinion.

The Nicky Winmar incident back in 1993 did more to damage the Collingwood brand than anything else in the last 30 years. You obviously have no idea the lengths the club went to in order to remove the stain of racism which had been levelled at the club. Even now, Collingwood will do anything to avoid even the scent of racism being associated with the club.

Well the only person who can clear this up now is Jason Mifsud.

The comments were made to him (and a few others according to Vlad) and he is the only person who can back up Rendell's version of events and whether or not it's true.

He started this and it is now time for him to come out and finish it. If he is half of the spectacular human being that Demetriou made him out to be on the couch, then he will have no hesitation in telling us all how it transpired and the context it was delivered in.

Jason Mifsud, I eagerly await your response.

With Rendell's interview (Stitch up pure and simple)there is now a clear case of someone not telling the truth and a lot of asscovering being done for a couple of months at least. There was a lot of pitchfork waving going on when this first broke with the info we had. We now have a hell of a lot more and it doesn't look good for Triggy either, but we don't know everything that went on or what Vlad and his cronies could do to the club, by cutting Dell loose it allowed him to fire off like he did.

Its a true shame we have lost such a great servant to the game we love over someone's agenda. Don't think there would be too many thinking bad of you at all and if they did they have the problem not you.

With the bombs Rendell dropped every jurno worth his salt is going to be digging to find the real truth out. This story has plenty of legs left yet.

Bending over every time the league flexes its muscles is precisely how we got to this point.
I'm sure we were threatened, and I'm sure there were sponsorship dollars, or whatever, ransomed. But there are points where you have to take a stand. We clearly failed to do that.
Plenty of atrocities throughout history have been dealt by a hand that was forced. That doesn't make them forgivable.
It's hard to blame guys like Phil Davis in an environment like this.
Modern football really sucks, in more and more ways.

Just on Trigg, I understand that this is not entirely his fault - no one would invite this situation on themselves.

He found himself in a situation - having to defend comments by a key employee of the club that are quite controversial on the surface.

Difficult situation no doubt, and there would have been some damage to the club regardless of the course of action we chose.

In times of crisis that is when true leadership emerges. By trying to wash our hands of the problem I feel we have chosen the worst possible path. The lack of respect and regard our club will be held in after this is almost unfathomable. Selling out your own unjustly is almost the worst thing a club can do.

This is what disgusts me. It sounds as though Rendell was perfectly content resigning and understood the AFC would become attached to the comment if he were to stay - so why the hell didn't Trigg let him into to presser to clear his name?
