I think we should take a risk and add another freak to compliment Cyril or Buddy. Get Lin Jong! Will be a project no doubt but with our very good development team i think we could really have something!

Personally I am not sold on Mirra, we have plenty of his type. I would like to see us take a risk or two.

Paul Johnson: was delisted and is training with us at the moment. He did not have a pre-season last year due to injury and this year will have an opportunity to get a full pre-season in. He is a mature ruckman and can be only viewed as a back up if big Max falls down. Remember, Max will need breaks during the year so Lowden or Johnson (if picked) will be used. I’d prefer Lowden if fit. I think we will pick him.

Re others:

Menegola – Assume Saints will pick him up, good luck to him

Peterson – Great kid with huge potential, I remember speaking to Clarko who saw a future for Peterson in the midfield. We wasted two years with this kid, are we willing to risk another, I guess the answer is depends on what is available at the time. My view is that I love him but he burnt his chance, if picked up this will send the wrong message to the group.

I have not had enough time to research the others, but a consideration may be that we can delist another player right?

I like Mirra but it would be a dumb move for him to come to us. He would not get a game.

Be interesting to see who we go after. Two tall and two quicks, if they can play footy that would be great but if not who really cares, as long as they have some raw physical attribute we can develop.

List Lodgement 3 was due November 30. So as I understand it, the answer to your question is no.

Surely he would have to back himself in to get a game anywhere if he really wants to play AFL? Opportunities always emerge if you are good enough.

On Mirra, not sure we would take with our first pick so that may see him elsewhere, he has been scouted by many Clubs.

I like hime and yes we have others in the team who play a similar role, but this kid played 1 game in the BHH seniors in 2010 having missed being drafted, then plays every game in the BHH seniors in 2011 and runner up in the B&F and is just 20.

That's enough for me, our coaches would have seen him every week for the past 2 seasons. Anyway he will end up with an AFL Club, hope its us.

Who would he have to force out of the back 6/7? Murphy? Would he be a Murphy upgrade on the basis that he is good lock down but potentially a better player offensively?

Does he have attributes to be a future mid?

I reckon Mirra could probably get 10 to 15 games with a bottom 8 side. I cant see him getting a run with us as we have no shortage of smaller running defenders.

Still surprised he was not drafted. Dunno what the knock is, maybe a bit light or a tad one paced.

My four would be..
Paul Johnson as a back up ruck, may not be needed.
Brody Mihocek. I think this boy has a future as a defender.
Gibson Turner. Could play mid or forward from what I've seen on his tape.
Carl Peterson. Why not, loved his year with us, what have we got to loose.

Here is one from left field. What about Hugh Sandilands? Has come a long way since we delisted him 3 years ago. Put some weight & has become a solid defender in the VFL who can rebound out of defense pretty well & uses the ball well by foot and makes good decisions. Is he any chance?

He isn't on the list and no-one has ever heard of him but:

Max Warren

He is a really talented player and would fit our game style perfectly I think.

Yep, Brody Mihocek. He is a competitor, looks like a very good backman, the all australian u18. Another backman less than 192 cm. Can't wait. That's probably the only reason I had Frost, 194 cm, ahead of it, otherwise in terms of experience and holding down FB, Mihocek is a mile in front at the moment.

What about the Suns Marc Lock, I hear Box Hill have picked him up. He is a good utility and a great on field leader. Might be a good rookie pick.

Reportedly tested very poorly in the athletic testing at the draft camp - significantly reducing his appeal to many clubs.
