As for Liam Pickerings claims I dont doubt you but lets see what eventuates. he is not part of our club and this has yet to be officially finalised.

I am not saying Bentley is better or worse now.......but may have more development in him and may be the better player in 2 years time.

The club obviously saw something in him they liked enough to give him a rookie spot.

And they did use an earlier pick to secure Bentley than they did to re-draft Pfieffer so maybe he was a higher rated player on our wish list.

You have to remember, I think rookies have only like something of a 30 percent success rate (could even be less) of being elevated onto a senior list and becoming a successful player.

Right now, I think we've only got 3 players that were elevated from the rookie list, Thornton, Carrot and Jamison (correct me if I'm wrong) and have established themselves in the best 22.

Spot on.....wouldnt be surprised if the success rate was a lot less

I think its about 30% success rate getting a half decent career from the ND.

Setanta was a rookie also.

That could be 4 players from our starting 22 on any given week........very significant.....with a B&F winner and 2 class defenders amongst them

Never the less there have been quite a few absolute gems come through the system this way and turning the list over and getting as many young kids with upside into your system for a year or two can only help increase your chances of finding that 1very good rookie.

This is why Im not really in favour of keeping too many "depth players" unless they are genuinely good depth players. Prefer to try and find the next diamond in the rough.
