Also I'm more excited about Atkins than any other draftee we've taken in recent times. I proclaim myself El Presidente of his fan club.

I'm on the Rory Atkins diet... I can eat whatever I like because I'm ****ing awesome!!

Urgh I've been meaning to claim him for months! Kid oozes class. In that pre season trial v Freo when it was about a billion degrees, he was one of very few Crows able to find a metre of space and hit a target in the first half. Second half everyone looked good because it was so hit and the game opened up. Also liked the look of him in the SANFL game I saw him play.

We need to be patient because he has zero tank atm so that will take a couple of years. But he's got "it".

He look so young and innocent.

It's hard to believe he's a well-oiled football killing machine. He could explode at any moment and destroy an entire city block. See those cute brown eyes? DEATH LASERS.

From the Bob Dylan song, Subterranean Homesick Blues.

Has a famous video clip, often parodied.

The pump don't work coz the vandals took the handles!

Don't wear sandals, I can't afford the scandals

Whatever that means

Can't help it but he reminds me of the kid from the movie "Robin Hood - Men In Tights"

Channel 9 are reporting that the 9 SANFL clubs are preparing to have the AFL listed players removed from their paying list next year.

The 2 AFL clubs are still in negotiations with the SANFL clubs to hopefully get 6 out of 8 votes in their favour and then thry will have reserves teams play in the SANFL. As a benefit of thus vote, the SANFL clubs will receive $150,000 every year as a buy off.

$150k each? Can see why Sturt would jump at this.

We'd need an entire new midfield, though hopefully the Crows will delist Graham.

Don't know why, but he strikes me as the type of cocksure young footballer that Collingwood seem to draft (in a good way)

Why does the SANFL once again have to attach a pricetag to everything that the Crows or Power want to do ?

The SANFL clubs have had years of using AFL players for free, now suddenly that the clubs want reserve teams in comes Whicker and Olson with a plan to further rip off the AFL clubs and generate more revenue by making the Crows and Port pay for the ability to develop their own players

If people wonder why we are falling behind the big clubs in Victoria it is self serving rubbish like this where the SANFL continue to invent ways to rip every dollar it can from the SA based AFL clubs.

When is this massive conflict of interest going to finally end ?

So, according to your 'logic', the SANFL clubs should develop players for the AFL, have them drafted (and not necessarily by the two SA clubs) for no compensation. Furthermore, when they are drafted to the two SA clubs and either continue to develop in the SANFL/drop back to the SANFL, it's the SANFL clubs being the freeloaders

I think the compensating them is more to give them $ to go and get replacement players. 150k is too much tho.

But doesn't the AFL club have to pay a transfer fee when that player is drafted?

Now they are paying a transfer fee again

It is but if it gets us a seconds side, where fringe team memebrs can develop without being disenfranchised at a club they hold no allegiance to, then it is a real good thing.

If the boys are together, I reckon we will see even less go home factor or players suffering homesickness

Probably not as much of a look a like as Bock was

But I reckon the personality may be similar???

My logic is that we should be paying no more to the SANFL clubs for drafted players than clubs like Collingwood etc are.

The SANFL has had 20 years of blokes like Tambling playing in the SANFL for free so we've more than paid our dues.

This constant mindset by the SANFL to invent price tags on anything and everything is becoming a farce. There's already a huge financial gulf between us and the bigger clubs, but the SANFL have once again concocted a new scheme to attempt to get even more blood from the stone.

The ownership of the licenses is a massive conflict of interest that is detrimentally having an impact on both clubs. At the end of the day all the SANFL cares about is how much money they can suck out of both into the SANFL coffers and while that remains the case we'll never be as strong off the fields as rival clubs are.

Hi ya buddys!
I live in Melb, so I may of missed something....so, I just read an Adelaide Now article and in it , surprisingly to me, it said that Port already have a reserves team - as in the Port Magpies.... Is this a definate for next year that they will act as their reserves side? I thought Power were with us in trying to get both clubs in? The article said we'd be the only club without a reserves. Did I miss some announcement - all Power players to Magpies and tey will be Power 2's next year??
To add my view to the Crows reserves.. I hope they join the VFL !!! OK, I'm selfish.. reason being that I can go and watch!!!! And to keep you guys happy, yes I will write a report on here!:thumbsu:

See who the author of the story was? Yep, the ever presumptuous Michelangelo Rucci who could not differentiate fact with fiction.

Port Power will have the Port Magpies as a reserves side but they don't yet and he knows that.
