My last official action as admin, short of some strategic pardons, is to legitimise the PhenoMedalV1 as an official award. Same as the Golden Pants.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Mobbs Medal S39 Header.png

Good evening all and welcome to the Season 38 Mobbenfuhrer Medal, the night of nights where we hit the heights of better stop rhyming before I start singing. Tonight we will crown the finest player of the season as judged solely by the sim, a character we know little about or what they care for (tackles!). As this is the second part of a now two season stint for me as admin I would like to make some mentions before I move along with the first round of voting.

Firstly, I would like to thank the committee for a nicely engaged close to the season, with all potential errors likely caused by myself. I’d like to acknowledge the sim team - Dingster, MWPP and serial_thrilla – without these guys we are dust (metaphorically speaking) and their promptness with their role ensures we can put together not only the season but also this ceremony (also huge thanks to the rest of the sim team in Wosh, philreich and FootyGuy13).

I must again point the knowing finger at TheInjuryFactory – I just can’t do these things without you. You are clutch.

Of course as you all know by now I have become unable to continue this role into a momentous Season 40 so I would like to thank Gralin for taking the extra time afforded him to plant the seeds within the committee as to what his vision of S40 and beyond looks like. He will be a wonderful admin and I cannot thank him more for his good hearted and good humoured start and we will see what he has up his sleeves as a preview when he presents the beez soon.

Oh, and of course congratulations to the Furies and Hawks for their huge seasons making it into the grand final this weeked.

With that all said, I apologise to any I have missed this season but we are here for only one reason. Let us lead into our round 1 votes as we look to find out the Season 39 Mobbs Medallist.

Rd 1 – Gralin

Las Vegas Bears vs Fighting Furies at The Stadium in the Sky

On a rainy day the Bears came out of the blocks fast with five individual goal kickers in the first quarter. New recruit Ocha905 wasting no time in kicking their first goal for the club. The Furies could only manage a single point from a Grockadoc kick and trailed by 32 points at the change. The second quarter started with the second goal for the day for I Dont Care before the Furies finally hit back.

NaturalDisaster and Bonz kicked back to back goals for the Furies in what looked like the start of a revival, but it was short lived with the next seven scoring shots to the Bears stretching the lead out to 60 when Matera92 goaled late in the quarter. Supersuns beat the buzzer to keep the margin under 10 goals at the main change.

The third quarter was a much more even affair but free flowing with 11 goals kicked between the two teams, rfctigerarmy and JyeDye had big quarters for the Furies while I Dont Care and Mkmatty continued their good games for the Bears.

The Bears ultimately maintained the big lead they built in the first half finishing the match 48 point winners. 5 goals to Art Vandelay_ a highlight along with the hard work of Millky95 and MWPP

For the Furies solid games from crazywildhorse TRUMAN#1 and James Colorado were not enough to keep up.

Ophidian Old Boys vs Sin City Swamprats at Spotswood Oval

A cloudy day in Spotswood saw a big first quarter with 13 goals kicked between the two teams. gab213 came kicked 4 of the Old Boys 7 first quarter goals, while the Swamprats spread the load around more with damicky kicking two of their 6 goals.

The second quarter was again even but much tighter with only 6 goals being kicked. Old Boy mids Irish BlueBagger and Dingster got involved, while for the Swamprats sataris has come off the bench to kick two goals for the half.

The third quarter was completely one way traffic with the Old Boys failing to register a single point as the Swamprats put the foot down. Swamprats full forward damicky kicked numbers 4 and 5, Ant Bear and MrsEddieBetts chipped in 3 from the pockets and the lead was out to 28 points.

The two teams traded goals in the fourth but the Old Boys could not peg back the lead.

For the Old Boys Irish BlueBagger Pugsley both had big days in the midfield while Robertio tried hard to slow down the SwampRats

For Sin City the win was powered by BloodySwan sataris and damicky

Gumbies FFC vs Mount Buller Demons at The House of Gumby

The Gumbies hosted the Demons on a warm Sunday to kick off the season. First blood went to the Gumbies with Dory_77 and nobbyiscool kicking true around 3 Demons points before DemonJim straightened up Mount Buller to start a run of four.

The second quarter again started with Dory_77 kicking a goal to keep things close between the two clubs. From there the Demons full forward Yakker took over kicking 4 to help his club to a 30 point lead at half time.

The third saw Demons cats2rise and Yakker as well as Gumbie beez all kick mulltiple goals but accuracy was down for both clubs with 8.12 kicked overall for the quarter.

The final quarter saw 10 goals kicked Yakker ending the day with 8 and Demons wing p4p1 kicking 4, beez finishing with 3 for the Gumbies.

GWS Goose and nobbyiscool led the way for the home team

Dragons FFC v Roys FFC at Ljp86's Lair

A wet day on Dragon Island saw a low scoring first quarter. Mooch kicked the first of the Roys two goals for the quarter while Ligma was the only dragon to hit the scoreboard with both their points being rushed.

The game opened up in the second quarter with both clubs finding their range. Fleabane kicked two of the Roys six for the quarter, while the Dragons had four individual goal kickers

The third quarter became a real arm wrestle with the Dragons kicking three unanswered goals to get within a point while the Roys peppered the goals unsuccessfully until Aristotle Pickett steadied them right at the end.

Bradesmaen and Ligma kept pushing for the Dragons in the fourth but Fleabane and TheGoatBaron both adding to their tallies got the Roys over the line in the end.

HawkAussie and Ljp86 provided a lot of defensive pressure for the Dragons all day

Phar Ace and royboy2 provided a lot of drive for the Roys to feed their forwards

Gold City Royals v Baghdad Bombers at The Golden Throne

The first muddy game of Season 39 saw the Royals adapt to the conditions better than the Bombers. CakeEater kicked the first of 3 Royals goals before Bovo hit back for the Bombers. The end result was 5 goals to 2 with seven different players kicking a goal.

The second quarter started with Smartys Power extending the lead to 23 points before the Bombers clawed back Kilroy and then Grav hitting the scoreboard. The margin at half time only 5 points

Crimson Azure became the first multiple goal scorerer of the match kicking their second and third goals, Bovo joining later in the quarter for the Bombers. The Royals pulled away to the largest margin of the match so far at 28pts to end the quarter

Smartys Power looked to have put the game out of reach in the 4th, though the Bomber tried to mount a comeback through Grav and JoelTrafford before Footypie32 stopped the comeback

Crimson Azure played like it was dry with an even performance behind them in the midfield

Bovo and DemurePrincess the best mids for the Bombers

East Side Hawks v Coney Island Warriors at The Eyrie

Rain at the Eyrie saw the home team bolt out of the gate with a 6 goal to 1 first quarter. Tarkyn_24 opened proceedings and Giant Strides kicked two from the pocket with spudmaster the only goal against the flow for the Warriors

When PhenomenalV1 kicked the opening goal of the second quarter the Hawks were up by 39. Tonga Bob kicked a Captains goal, answered quickly by Loonerty the margin pushed out to 45 before pantskyle started a run for the Warriors

toxic started the third quarter with the 5th Warriors goal in a row to bring the margin down to just 16 points. Scythe94 steadied for the home team but it was short lived with The Filth Wizard kicking two to drop the margin to 2 points.

The final quarter 3 lead changes with Riviat putting the Warriors ahead before Tarkyn_24 got the Hawks back in front. The final lead change was The Filth Wizard 3rd for the day and pantskyle sealed it

The Hawks engine room was powered by boncer34 and Scythe94

The Warriors got a milestone match out of ruck pantskyle with strong support from spudmaster

Round 2 – ClarkeM

Baghdad Bombers 16.7 (103) defeat East Side Hawks 14.15 (99)

As I sit here and begin writing this, I regret with every inch of my soul and the many inches that have come within me over my journey, that I agreed to do this. In fact, I originally wanted to do an audio version and while that dream remains real, I also quite simply and respectfully, cannot be *ed. So here we are, the Bombers at home hosting the Furies and * me, that's the round I've been assigned to AND it's the first bloody game, we're off to a blinder here.

I'll start at the end, Bombers won by 4 points. Not bad, pretty good but it really was just the Furies on the other end so it means nothing really. The Bombers actually begun the last term 18 points ahead and in the clear and a crawl by the Furies eventually saw them leading by 2 up until the league's biggest inactive dud that's somehow still on a list, came through with the goods in the final minute, kicking a snap goal from the forward pocket to put his team ahead.

To further add to the truth, the goalkicking game-saving saviour in Round 2 had this to say with his one and only post of the match:

iDon said:

hey guys, what times the game on? Can't wait.

Go BOMBERS

3 kicks, 3 goals though, not bad mate. More kicks than posts is never a good sign though. Lift.

Mount Buller Demons 13.8 (86) defeated by Ophidian Old Boys 14.10 (94)

I should have picked a split round. If only we had someone with common sense do the fixture for a change, that would have helped. I'm just realising now that I complain slightly more than the average joe it seems, why didn't anyone tell me this.

Alright so Demons and Old Boys. I'll try to not fall asleep. Turbo still around? I miss his tub. Anyway, an 8 point win to the Old Boys against the wretched Demons. ****ing hell, that was up there for one of the worst, most insipid seasons ever put on field by a Qooty team. They even led for most of this match and still couidn't get the job done when the going got tough. OOB at one point even kicked 5 behinds in a row in the last quarter, showcasing that this could have been VERY ugly. Not as ugly as Turbo, but quite ugly. Closer to Headless I'd say.

Coney Island Warriors 15.6 (96) defeated by Gumbies FFC 17.8 (110)
Really hitting the bottom of the barrel now with some of these games however, a Warriors loss always seems to bring a wry smile to my face as I remember just how trophyless their club is. Then again, a Warriors loss has meant a Gumbies win so it's a short-live smile. Let's take a look at the game shall we?

Okay, that was pretty boring.

It was pretty funny to see both teams had players who didn't register a stat, meanwhile Tonga Bob laid 11 tackles demonstrating not only did the rest of the team do nothing, but also that the Gumbies had the ball all day long. While I'm here, beez, **** you. 6 goals out of nowhere. Who even are you bro? That's ridiculous.

Anyway, Warriors led for most of the game but the Gumbies just edged themselves ahead comfortably in the last quarter to notch up their first win of the year by 14 points.

Wonders FFC 15.18 (108) defeat Dragons FFC 12.5 (77)

Ah finally a game worth covering. The tagline at the time had the Wonders DESTROYING the Dragons and I have to admit, I wouldn't consider this as destroying however it was otherwise a strong performance by a team. Let's take the time now to celebrate all players who recorded 21+ disposals:

BigChippa52

ClarkeM (oh that's me, yay)

dogs105

AnUltimateRessie

Giant YoYo

And from the Dragons, no one.

Though they lost, they did have some good performances, Bradesmaen kicked 4 straight, Ljp86 had 20 touches and a goal, Drizzy nearly scored a triple double with 19 disposals split apart and 10 marks and though the team led early into the match, the Wonders managed to overcome and take the game out winning by 31 points. Oh and BFew kicked 7 which was pretty decent.

Sin City Swamprats 13.12 (90) defeat Las Vegas Bears 10.4 (64)
Let's be real, no one is reading this. I could serenade you with a song, but no one would be listening. My neck, my back, lick my... and we're back okay then - Swamprats beat the Bears. Quite a mismatch I'd have thought just going off of the animals alone but you know what they say about the price of bread in China!
This game had just one standout and not just the smell, but his performance alone was quite impressive kicking 7 goals... damicky well done cocko.
Quite literally no one else performed though. DenieD had 20 touches which is perhaps easier to do than it is to post a team sheet and tigs2010 had 22 but that was quite literally it.
Let's highlight a pointless performance actually. Millky95 had 5 touches and a Free For. Okay.

Roys FFC 21.21 (147) defeat Gold City Royals 15.4 (94)
Finally at the end of this shit. I regret agreeing to spend a decent hour of my time preparing things that everyone will inevitably skip over and look straight to the votes.
We should actually release the Mobbs votes tally halfway through the season to spice things up and then we can see less time wasted in these write-ups, they can be saved for the last 6-8 rounds or something and we have something to talk about mid-season as opposed to what is currently plaguing the league which is a complete infestation of disinterest and boredom.
Anywho, Roys got the win over their dictionary counterparts in the Royals. Be really interesting to see who gets the three votes here out of Cadsky and royboy2 with 9 and 13 tackles respectively. Actually, this was a tackle-fest, in more ways than one. Crimson Azure had 7, fitzroybowiedog had 8, Mobbs had 0 and so too Reardo. It was one for the ages. 3KZ is Football had 30 touches and TheGoatBaron kicked 6 from his 13 shots. Uncle_Leo was back kicking 5 straight but it wasn't enough, as normal.
