Great result for SEN across the board, great to see. The station deserves good ratings as I know a lot of people who listen, yet the ratings dont always reflect it.

Its the old people who make the difference. Lots of retirees listening to Ernie Signley and Bruce and Phil warp the ratings.

SEN have 3AW covered in their target demographic aged 25 to 39.

Morning Glory’s Week Of Turfology II

Turf-speak.

I didn’t like the body language between Gary and Caroline; I reckon there’s something smelly going on there … I remember Caro asking Garry Lyon a question and he answered that question and didn’t even look at her. He actually answered that question looking down the barrel of the camera
-On watching C. Wilson and G. Lyon on Footy Classified [June 9].

He and Aaron Davey, there’s probably not much between them.
- On Tiger Woods being the greatest athlete on the planet.

I tell you what, this will come to a head one day. When the IPL, these players playing for big cash over there in this meaningless Twenty20 competition … and it affects their representation of Australia in Test series and so forth; you haven’t heard the end of it, trust me
- On Matt Hayden’s injury while playing in IPL.

Given the strength of Cricket Australia and the ICC and their prominence in the politics of world cricket - not. You can be sure of that
- On players continuing to play in comps like IPL.

How come there’s been no baggy green helmets auctioned off?
- On Allan Border’s Test cap being auctioned off his.

Auction off your baggy green box
- On proliferation of Test players gear being auctioned off.

I reckon he’ll bounce back. He’ll bounce back on Channel Seven next year; mark my words. It’s just a gut feeling I’ve got
- On Eddie McGuire’s 1-100 TV show being axed on Friday nights.

Turfy’s Take:
Rob Hulls was quoted in the Age yesterday as saying that he backed the integrity of former Racing Victoria chairman, Graham Duff. I would’ve thought that was a touch premature, maybe he’s right? …Rob Hulls noted Mr. Duff’s denials and said that he’d done a great job as chairman from 2001 to 2006/7. That’s what I want to take issue with. If the Racing Minister, Rob Hulls believes that Racing Victoria and it’s chairman [Duff] have done a good job [2001-2007], then it’s time for a new racing minister. Graham Duff did not do a great job, nor did Racing Victoria do a great job running racing in this state from 2001 to 2007. Ask the jockeys, ask the owners, ask the bookmakers. They did a crap job! And it’s time for a new racing minister.

Well, Turfy, at least R.V. got two things right. :D

I’d like to see the dinner suit t-shirt banned
- On the proposed ban of fake tans and exposed underwear by Royal Ascot in England.

I’ve got ugly and ineffective - me and my golf swing
-On having an ugly but effective sports trait.

You played in front of over 3,000 people at the State Netball Hockey Centre last night, which I’ve been to a number of times; it’s a great venue. Um, blockbuster fatigue, Bianca, you copping it in Netball?
Running-gag reference to Mick Malthouse during interview with Bianca Chatfield from some Vixens nightclub.

Dr Turf is doing some great work with Richo. And they're only a makeshift team - compare that with the next-to-no chemistry between Bill, Tim and Andy who have been hosting the show for years together now.

How many stations have fill-in hosts that are better than the "A" team? I'm sure on the next break the MG boys will ensure the slot goes to a journeyman like Schibeci instead of more dynamic presenters like Turf, Richo, Harf so their job isn't in danger :)

Get ready everyone, everyone's favourite "read the scores from the paper in local footy" show is nearly on! Great radio

I like Richo, but every now and then he comes across as a complete yuppy.

For example this morning when talking about the twilight Grand Final idea (and aren't they flogging that today?), he asked people to respond to a poll "Would you still go to the Grand Final if it was a twilight game?"

Err umm most of us don't get to go to the Grand Final every year (even if our teams are playing) to "still go" next year.

Not that I've heard.

Speaking of athletics, managed to hear about 15 minutes of the olympic show last night. Dave Culbert is the best expert commentator on the station. Pity that Matt Thompson was on with him.

unfortunately i cant stand talk about athletics/olympic chat so i cant agree/disagree/provide critical analysis.

Doran interviewing Ian Johnson from Ch 7 about their habit of cutting straight to the news as soon as the siren goes on Sunday afternoons.

Johnson explained that sometimes the match just goes too long which means they don't have time to do any post match stuff (interviews, song etc). Doran meekly accepts this.

FFS Mark. If he gives you this sort of stupid answer ask him why they stick so many ads in the middle of the game which makes the game go so long then ???

You're meant to be a journalist not some fool who believes whatever he is told.

Just because he treats you like an idiot it doesn't mean that you should let him treat the whole audience as idiots.

I was waiting for him to say "yes Mr Johnson... no Mr Johnson..."

If you run that interview in your head with other SEN hosts, I can think of only few of them that would have pushed him harder on that question though. Frank, Finey maybe... the rest are too caught up in the industry.

that interview was embarrassing...oh hang on didnt doran work for ch 7 once? ;)

i mean, why not challenge johnson on the pathetic excuse that games run longer. FFS ch 9 never stuffed it up did they?

but the clincher for me was when doran asked about ox. johnson says "yes ox has been very good, very good boy". the tone in his voice suggested he was having a laugh. doran wholeheartedly agrees!!

Last Friday some caller rang in giving a case to why West Coast would beat Essendon and the reasons were the bigger bodies of the Eagles would be an advantage on the wet surface and conditions of the Telstra Dome and Essendon were due for a loss. Doran agreed with those reasons and "I can hear what you're saying."

Didn't you post that last week?
