Season 4 is missing the Treehouse of Horror, which is, in my opinion at least, the best ToH, notable for "Zombie Flanders".Whacking Day and A Streetcar Named Marge are also both excellent, andLisa's First Word is a personal favourite of mine. But season 4 is flawless, so kudos for being able to limit it down as opposed to simply listing each episode in order of personal appeal, which no one would hold against you form doing so.

As for Season 5, almost as flawless as season 4, I noticed Deep Space Homer as a notable absence, as are Homer and Apu, Cape Feare and Marge on the Lam, they latter being my favourite Lionel Hutz episode.

Pretty good list all around with those few exceptions, imo.

Would have put all of those in my list (minus Lisa's First Word, nothing against it, just don't feel it is as strong as others), but as I mentioned, I was trying not to have too many from particular seasons. Deep Space Homer is great just for the fact that inanimate carbon rod always trumps Homer.

this is arguably the saddest thing i've seen the simpsons do

This picture is so depressing. The Simpsons was a huge part of my (and a lot of other people's) childhood. I know this sounds stupid but 'The Simpsons' is a show that I though would literally last forever (or a least after our lifetime). For such a major character to be written off the show is just devastating. No matter how bad the show is these days, it's still the bloody same Simpsons to me!
The same Simpsons that's given us over 20 years of laughs,anger and tears!

Even though the show isn't as good as it used to be, I would be sad when they have the final episode.
If you were part of the writing team, how would you finish the show??

Personally I would have the the whole Simpsons family die in a car accident. I know it sounds brutal. It's the best way to end the show though IMO. Or is it too graphic for the show??

don't know if already suggested but the best way to end the show imo would be too finally reveal what state springfield and shelbyville are in.

also may already have been revealed but i have watched about 10 new episodes since ~2002
