and you think you know something about football? your an idiot! his got horrible skills, you can't determine his got good skills from one passage of play and you dont even know what game it is.. yeh his fast and shown a bit but hasn't showed yet he'll be a best 22 player. You think you know something about football but all your having is an opinion, i bet you hve never played the game at a level higher then local and just a passionate football supporter who thinks his an expert. cant stand you people.

lol *** off mate, your a joke. Your right I haven't played football above local league, I am A state Rugby union player though, but even so just because I've only played local level how is that saying that I don't know much about football??? How the hell do I know that you know anything mate?

I never said I was an expert, I just know what his skills are like. Yes I am biased because Im a mate of his but I guess I can let dumbfuks like you think what you want. Time WILL tell and when he is a permanent 22 player you can reply to me ok.

And in relation to where he should play, he should be in a midfield role not a defensive role, I'm sure you will see him in a more defensive role this year but he will slowly more into the midfield.

o my bad your a rubgby player of coarse you know something about football, you ****wit, your the one that had a go at bloke and told him he knew nothing about football cause he thought armfield wouldn't be in the starting 22, nothing against armfield but skills win flags like hawthorn, and carlton's greatest weekness is our skills, especially in our defensive half.. you never said you were an expert but you ****ing came across like it, but i forgot your a state rugby player :thumbsu:

How much you wanna make a bet that he WILL be a best 22 player? without a doubt. You say his quality of disposal is highly questionable mate you dont know shit do you, you obviously haven't been watching him. He has brilliant skills, right and LEFT foot. You remember when ran down the wing (cant remember who playing) did the 1, 2 then had a couple of bounces and pin pointed a low drop punt to fev on the 50 which he then went onto get a 50 a kick the goal and you say his skills are crap? Yes he has had the ocasional sloppy kick but definitely no more than anyone else. And he is the fastest! in the team and has got great stamina (came 7th in the time trial), although he said he should have done alot better. Well thats all I have to say, but i am biased, but i hate when people talk shit they dont know enough about
your a ****ing rugby player! as you said ur biased you clearly no **** all mate, this guy has a valid point.. armfiled played a couple of good games this year but played some ****ing shit ones, and cause his a mature ages player if he doesn't step it up especially with his skills i would much rather player the younger players in browne and anderson!

Shit mate isnt the idea of these forums to let ppl have an opinion?

The game was against collingwood. Armfields Skills arent great but they are adequate. He comes from a rugby background and has said himself that he would be in the side only because of his defensive pressure.

For a small lead up forward like Mark Williams I would like anderson and for the little snakes like milne and N brown carrots is fine by me.

I think S Browne shows a lot of composure when he has a ball and will end up being a good midfielder/flanker for us.
your right everyone is worthy of an opinion but there's a certain way of going about it!

I think we've all had our concerns with Carrot's skills but there was a definite noticeable improvement in the second half of the season. Not sure what it was but when you look at the stats he's kicking efficiency was higher than Scotland's for the year and just below Gibbsy's.

Carazzo: 69.4%
Scotland: 68.6%
Gibbsy: 69.6%

Just for the Record Army's kicking efficiency was 57.8%.

I think it's a horses for courses thing. If it's a lightning quick forward I don't mind Armfield taking them but majority of the time i'd rather Carrots. I'm still not sold on Army above his head either.

I'm a fan of Carrazzo's in terms of him being in our best 22 now. I think he is just in the best 22 and wont be there in 2010. The stats you mention above can mislead people. Without a doubt Carrots has been directed to kick and handpass to short targets (15-30 metres). I went to enough games to to know that if you compared his efficiency at 40+ metre kicks, he would be nowhere near the other two in terms of efficiency!

Browne (particularly) and Armfield (50/50) showed enough to be pushing Carrots out of a back pocket position hopefully by the latter part of 2009. Think Browne has the composure and accuracy to do a great job.

Armfield could develop if he steadies a bit more. His bad disposal was due to running (and kicking) at breakneck speed. He just needs to steady and then dispose of the ball. He does this, and disposal efficiency turns on its head (in his favor)! Remember, first year last year and not long in football overall like other players. Will benefit HUGELY from last season!

Carrots out in 2010...First chocie back pocket at start of 2009!

yes carrazzo has bad disposal but whe he knows his limitations he is an extremly important player to us, do remember he finished 4th was it our best and fairest this year and won it the year before so i do think the staff rate him quit highly he is in our leadership group and is our best lpayer for shutting down small forwards. i.e nathen brown. i think carrazzo will stay in our team for years to come

re: Carrazzo kicking

I got the impression that opposition teams know his effectiveness at >30 metres is suss so they all man up very close to anyone within that range, forcing him to go longer. If we like his ballwinning (and we do) I think we need to play him more in traffic so he can handball off to the 5-15 metre range.

Id like to see us be able to use someone different to Carrots in the medium term as I think Carrots is better in the middle.

Armfield showed abit but still concerned he's not a footballer and he's up against smart little smug players - I mean even Monfries killed him.

Im hoping Browne / Anderson.

Simpson (you all laughed at me including him) is often caught in match-ups deep in defence and we seem to like his run from there (i think his shots on goal was way down in 2008) so he finds himself down there.

dont know why ppl luaghed at you, often trhoughout the year simpson started in the backline, and im not totally against him playing out of the backline.

Dont see anyone mentioning Hoops as a small defender :D

I think that everyone has gotten used to him being a forward/winger again.

But to be honest, I can see Carrots, Simmo and Heath down back covering the small defenders when they have to, plus the occassional cameo from Gibbs back there.

Would love to see Ando make 1 of the BP's his own this year, I think he could do a really good job back there.

I would like to see Browne be groomed as a Scotland understudy and learn to play that kind of role.

Armfield - meh, depth player, IMO

Carrots - IMO is best played off the bench, can play forward, back, or in the middle.

Too many names in too few positions:

Nothing wrong with that. It's called depth.

Backs: Browne Jamison Thornton
H/Backs: Scotland Waite Bower

I am happy with that starting six with Armfield replacing Browne on the really quick small forwards. Not Carrazzo or Anderson.

I hope we wouldn't be dropping a player like Browne out of the senior side purely because we don't have a match-up for him.

If he works hard to become a feature of our best 22, which I think he may over the next season, then he'll be kept in the side because he's in our best 22. Not because we have a suitable match-up for him.

Armfield, like Browne and even Anderson, will be in the side if he deserves it. He's nowhere near a best 22 player so we shouldn't include him just because he can play "on the really quick small forwards".

Oh god Dramoth, don't get me started.
All i'll say is that the club should play Hoops where he is most dangerous, which is on the half forward line.
