The smoke outside

Well here I am in the Sth East suburbs of Melbourne, and what do i see when i get up this morning? Smoke cover everywhere outside, so i go outside and blah it stinks!

Apparently its blown all the way from the fires in the Nth East. It's hard to imagine what its like for the people near the fires, I hope you're all safe and well

I was driving along swansea rd....(Lilydale) this morning, and couldn't even see Mt.Dandenong.

I woke up this morning and was able to see the three badly burnt mountains surrounding us for the first time since Saturday Morning. I actually saw blue sky. You cannot believe how good that looks after Saturday.

i too live in the south eastern suburbs and it STNIKS!!! my little brother is scared to walk outside! and todays weather doesnt really help it too much...

I live in West Footscray and the City buildings kind of loom over us. I cant even see them today.

Yep but how is it now hey - the smokes come right back over!

It must be awful for you Victorians at the moment .
I saw it on the telly before it looks pretty disgusting, especially when they showed it at the beginning of the tennis wouldn't be a very nice day for a game of tennis, hot, humid and sticky.

actually, they were going to have to close the australian open for just today if the smoke hadnt gone down... but its cleared quite a bit now...

Still alot of smoke around. It's going to get hotter over the weekend, so we may be in for a few more days of this yet. It's freaky though. I woke up at 11.00am and it looked like we were in the middle of a foggy winter.

Same in Ballarat this morning, so it's not just restricted to the Melbourne suburbs or the Surf Coast, either.

For what it's worth, it's much clearer now-- but this morning, not only could you not see much, but the smell! I went out to take the clothes off the clothesline, and you couldn't avoid the aroma for anything...

North western suburbs here. The smell of smoke woke me up this morning, and the colour of the sky was very smokey. It was all very Lord of the Ringsish.
