Hi, my name's Peter Helliar. You may have heard of my comedy and a fine character of mine called Strauchanie...

There is no-one that makes me madder. No, not even the stupid Lord of the Rings guy Channel 10 put on the dramatise everything as life and death (another thread entirely? Nice 'Saw' music btw ).

Worst character ever. Possibly worst excuse for a 'comedian' ever. Someone please force this single-brain-celled ******** to write this on a blackboard times infinity:

"I am a f***wit and neither I or my character are the slightest bit humourous".

P.S. Vlad you are a complete moron for agreeing to speak with this skidmark of Australian television.

It's actually killed Helliar artistically. Which sounds outrageous, the idea that the guy has an artistic bone in his funny, but he was at least a semi-decent, reasonable, watchable comedian. Now he's a hack of the first order.

The only thing more disappointing then this shithouse act been rolled out all the time is every moron who goes to the annual EJ Whitten Legends game and cheers more for Strachanie getting a touch then the actual legends of the game. I cry inside everytime. EVERY TIME.

Some comics have just one decent character; Mary Koustas had Effie, Mark Mitchell had Con The Fruiterer, Helliar has Strauchanie.

Strauchanie should be a lay down misere to be funny, but alas Helliar lets the character down because he's just not.

I read in a paper one day, after The Bounce was axed, someone wrote in saying Helliar was "as funny as a burning orphanage"!

The best thing that happened to Before The Game was having Helliar replaced by Mick Molloy.

Still, the next time Peter WhattheHelliardoin'onTV? plays Bryan Strauchan and it starts to fall flat - as it usually does - he can just give a big thumbs up and yell "STRAUCHANIEEEEEE!"

Agree with Marto, didn't like his act at the start, and hate him with a passion even more now, like last year (I think) was running around in the legends game with fake tattoo sleeves trying to pass it off as something funny...it wasn't

Clearly he's out dated now, was good for the first few years but should die quietly now.

I still laugh at some of "Strachaines" stuff at times, but its just not the same anymore.

Didn't he "retire" the character, then his career took a nosedive (Rove ended, Triple M sacked him and The Bounce was axed) so he brought it back?

Helliar has never been funny. Early Rove days were carried by Dave Callan. Rove and Helliar are just so unfunny. I don't get the popularity.

Add to that a massively punchable face, and it is irritation of the highest order.

I used to despise Greg Ritchie's Mahatma Cote, but at least he could occassionally come up with a funny quip. I don't see anything remotely funny from Helliar or his character.

+1 to the **** right off and please do it now crowd.

Lowest day ever was being at a Collingwood fan and seeing some mutant with a 59 "STRAUCHNIE" jumper. He'd even paid to get the name above it. Die sir, just die.

Peter Helliar had the occasion funny line in the first 2 years on Rove Live, but that was quite a few years ago and now he is desperately trying to stay in the media spotlight through his alter ego. Poor fool must wake up each day and think to himself "shit... has it really come to this". Imagine that being the backbone of your career

The Strauchnie thing was actually pretty funny for a while, but I clearly remember making it known that if anyone I knew bought the dvd, I wouldn't be able to speak to them again. We'd have to go our seperate ways. And that was five years ago, minimum. How the hell is it still going? Peter Helliar was/is a decent enough comedian (I thought that office footy tipping skit he did was amusing enough), but I hope this is a lesson to anyone to think very carefully before creating a one-joke character like that and it explodes. Kill it, before it becomes bigger than you.

Still haven't forgiven Helliar for being the reason Get This was shafted from Triple M.

Get rid of a genuine funny guy in Tony Martin to free up some cash to pay a genuine unfunny guy in Helliar.

The Strauchnie thing was only funny while it was scripted - some of the early stuff was OK, when he had writers making up the lines.

He cannot, and never has been able to, ad lib.

Whe he does, he is emabarrassingly, painfully unfunny.
